Abstract:
An apparatus for irradiating air flow in a vehicle includes a filter unit configured to couple to a recirculating-air conduit connected to a manifold of an air circulation system, the filter unit having an inlet end, and a filter disposed in the inlet end of the filter unit, including an outer wall of filter media having a shape that defines an interior volume of the filter. The apparatus further includes an ultraviolet light disposed on an end plate, configured to be mounted with the ultraviolet light positioned in the interior volume of the filter and the end plate against an open end of the filter. The ultraviolet light is configured to emit ultraviolet radiation substantially at between 222 nm and 265 nm for irradiating air flow through the filter into the air circulation system.
Abstract:
A galley cart system employs a dry ice compartment and a refrigeration compartment in a galley cart in flow communication with the dry ice compartment. A ventilation system is in interruptible flow communication with at least the refrigeration compartment and is for receiving gas discharged from at least the refrigeration compartment.
Abstract:
A galley cart system employs a housing with a door coupled to the housing, the door configured to be moved between a closed position and an open position. A vent plate in the housing communicates between a first compartment and a second compartment. A valve plate adjacent the vent plate is movable from a venting position when the door is in the closed position to a blocking position when the door is in the open position thereby preventing flow communication between the first and second compartment.
Abstract:
A duct includes a rigid air-permeable tube of composite material. The duct also includes a layer of insulation coupled to an exterior surface of the rigid air-permeable tube. The duct further includes a non-rigid insulation layer in contact with the layer of insulation. The non-rigid insulation layer forms an air-impermeable duct wall.
Abstract:
A cap for closing an open end of a duct tube has a cylindrical side wall having a length between a closed end and an open end of the side wall. An end wall extends across the closed end of the side wall. A conical section of the side wall extends outwardly from the open end of the side wall and has an interior surface configured to guide an end of a duct tube into a hollow interior volume of the side wall. A groove in an interior surface of the side wall is configured to receive a bead around an end of a duct tube inserted through the conical section and into the hollow interior of the side wall. A plurality of pull tabs extend outwardly from the conical section and are configured to be manually pulled, pulling the cap over the end of the duct tube.
Abstract:
A flexible hose assembly includes a length of tubular hose formed from a spiral-wrapped layer of polymer material. A helical stiffener is disposed on an outer surface of the tubular hose. The helical stiffener comprises an elastomer material that is configured to bond or adhere to the polymer material of the tubular hose.

A duct includes a foam-filled honeycomb core structure having a tubular shape. The duct further includes an air-impermeable duct wall coupled to an exterior surface of the foam-filled honeycomb core structure.
