Abstract:
A fine particle collecting filter includes a honeycomb structure in which a plurality of honeycomb segments are integrally joined by a joining material, and has a constitution where an exhaust gas allowed to flow from an inlet end surface into cells passes partition walls, and then flows out from an outlet end surface to the outsides of the cells. The partition walls are made of a material containing SiC as a main component, at least one of an average open diameter of pores of an inlet side of the exhaust gas passing the partition wall and an average open diameter of the pores of an outlet side of the exhaust gas passing is from 0.1 to 5 μm, an average pore diameter of the whole partition wall is from 10 to 30 μm, and a thermal conductivity of the partition walls at room temperature is from 80 to 110 W/mK.

A method of making a nonwoven wet laid aerogel blanket is provided. The aerogel blanket can exhibit improved thermal conductivity, lower corrosivity, lower dust production and a uniform structure. The blanket can be made from an aerogel floc that is formed from a slurry of aerogel particles.
Abstract:
The disclosure provides a low-temperature manufacturing method for an inorganic foam material including the following steps. A mixing process is performed, and the mixing process includes mixing a glass and a cement to form a raw material of inorganic foam material. A low temperature process is performed, for producing a gas inside the raw material of inorganic foam material by a foaming agent, and for forming an inorganic foam material made from the glass and the cement. The manufactured inorganic foam material has a low density, a high compressive strength and is capable of insulating heat. Also, the manufactured inorganic foam material has advantages of noise insulation, thermal insulation, fireproof, as well as featuring lower water absorption and lower shrinkage.

Abstract:
Compositions include an aerogel component and have low thermal conductivity. Methods for preparing slurries or composites include, for example combining the aerogel component with a surfactant, binder and other ingredients, such as, for instance, fibers. The compositions can be slurries that can be used in coating applications or self supporting rigid composites.
Abstract:
A formulation for obtaining a translucent concrete mixture comprising a mixture of polycarbonate and epoxy matrices, as well as glass fibres, optical fibres, colloidal silica, silica and Portland cement. The invention has greater mechanical strength properties than those of a standard concrete, with lower density and mechanical characteristics that enable same to be used in both a structural and architectonic manner. The formulation used to obtain the translucent concrete mixture comprises a type of concrete that is different from those currently available, which combines the advantages of existing concretes with translucency.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a composite target in the form of a bar made of ceramic powders and designed to be evaporated under an electron beam, the target comprising zirconia and at least one zirconia stabilizer. In characteristic manner, said target is wherein said zirconia stabilizer is at a molar content lying in the range 2% to 30% and wherein said zirconia is formed by more than 90% of a monoclinic phase. The invention is applicable to fabricating a ceramic thermal barrier of low thermal conductivity and high thermomechanical strength formed by evaporation under an electron beam.

Abstract:
A thermally conductive carbon foam is provided, normally having a thermal conductivity of at least 40 W/m·K. The carbon foam usually has a specific thermal conductivity, defined as the thermal conductivity divided by the density, of at least about 75 W·cm3/m·° K·gm. The foam also has a high specific surface area, typically at least about 6,000 m2/m3. The foam is characterized by an x-ray diffraction pattern having “doublet” 100 and 101 peaks characterized by a relative peak split factor no greater than about 0.470. The foam is graphitic and exhibits substantially isotropic thermal conductivity. The foam comprises substantially ellipsoidal pores and the mean pore diameter of such pores is preferably no greater than about 340 microns. Other materials, such as phase change materials, can be impregnated in the pores in order to impart beneficial thermal properties to the foam. Heat exchange devices and evaporatively cooled heat sinks utilizing the foams are also disclosed.
