Abstract: A floating floor system and a floor panel and method for use with the same that includes an improved mechanical interlock system. The mechanical interlock system allows laterally adjacent floor panels that are mechanically interlocked to slide relative to one another a predetermined distance in a longitudinal direction, while prohibiting relative translation in the vertical and transverse directions. In one embodiment, the predetermined distance eliminates the need for precision cuts during installation, thereby making installation fast and easy. In a further embodiment, the invention optimizes the floor panels (and floating floor system.) to balance ease of installation and horizontal locking strength between laterally adjacent floor panels.

Abstract: The modular flooring element (1) according to the invention comprises a panel element (2), two hooking brackets (404) arranged on a longitudinal side, two shallow recesses (44) arranged on the other longitudinal side, a hooking bracket (604) arranged on a transversal side and a shallow recess (64) arranged on the other transversal side. The brackets (404) couple with the shallow recesses (44) of another modular element, and similarly the brackets (604) couple with the shallow recesses (64), so as to block the flooring elements both longitudinally and transversally. The hooking brackets (404, 604) are provided with bearings for making the same brackets slide easier. The modular floor so provided can be assembled and dismantled quite quickly. Tongue and groove joints along the longitudinal and transversal edges render the assembled floor quite strong.

Abstract: Floor element (1), which is mainly in the form of a board with triangular, quadratic, rectangular, rhomboidal or polygonal shape as seen from above. The floor element (1) is provided with edges (2), a lower side (7) and a decorative upper layer (3). The floor elements (1), which are intended to be joined via tongue and groove are on at least two opposite edges (2), preferably on all edges (2) provided with holes (4). The holes (4) extends inwards from the edge (2) mainly parallel to the decorative upper layer (3). The holes (4) are arranged on a predetermined distance from the decorative upper layer (3) and on a predetermined distance from a closest corner between two adjacent edges (2), whereby the holes (4) are intended to receive each one part of a guiding means (6).

Abstract: A flooring system comprising a plurality of elongate members (1) secured together along adjacent longitudinal side edges by means of co-operating male and female formations (2, 3). The female formation (3) is a channel with relatively convergent sidewalls and the male formation comprises a hollow rail of complementary shape. An outer sidewall of the channel is resilient to allow the rail to be snapped into the channel in a direction transverse to the length of the members (1) and to return to its original shape to resist removal of the rail. The formations (2, 3) are arranged so that upper surfaces of adjacent members (1) form a panel having a planar support surface (21) and relative rotation of the members (1) about an axis parallel to the longitudinal side edges is resisted. Two panels may be joined together to provide upper and lower planar support surfaces (21, 22).

Abstract: The invention relates to locking elements that are designed in such a manner that they can adopt an initial position into which the boards are brought by especially lowering them in an exclusively vertical manner. A terminal position is achieved by especially subsequently displacing the panels along the common joint. In this position, the two panels can be interlocked in a manner perpendicular to the panel surface and parallel to the panel surface and at the same time perpendicular to the common connecting joint.
