Abstract:
Multiple polymeric panels molded as a rigid integral body having a planar top surface and a bottom grid structure are interlocked together mechanically along side edges. Each side edge has alternating upwardly and downwardly facing steps with concave dimples on one and mating convex projections on the other for securely interlocking adjacent panels to each other. The steps of adjacent panels interlock with each other to form a complete floor system. The multiple polymeric panels can be molded to simulate flooring materials such as brick or overlaid with sections of linoleum, carpet, synthetic grass, tile or wood flooring. Alternately, the assembled panels can be covered with a sheet of decorative material.

A parquet floor element is disclosed which comprises a facing layer defined by edges forming a closed contour, a backing panel of indented peripheral shape, and means for fixing the facing layer to the backing panel, the latter being associated with the facing layer in such a manner that the said teeth partly project relative to the edges of the facing layer, the intervals between the teeth in part receding relative to the said edges with a regular sequence, along the whole of the contour of the facing layer, of teeth projecting relative to the said edges and intervals between the teeth receding relative to the said edges.

An impact damping mat comprises a plurality of layers arranged in a stacked formation. The stacked formation has a total thickness of no greater than 4 and 7/16 inches. The plurality of layers cooperate to provide the impact damping mat with at least one of a coefficient of restitution no greater than 30% and a selected sound reduction characteristic. The selected sound reduction characteristic can be a reduction of a maximum sound level of at least 5 dB from 40 to 63 Hz 1/3 octave bands and at least 13 dB at and above 80 Hz 1/3 octave bands normalized to a conventional ⅜ inch rollout rubber flooring product.

A mat unit is formed from at least two layers ultrasonically welded together. Each layer is individually formed from non-vinyl nontoxic thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) material. In ultrasonically joining the two layers together, there is no need to use additional materials, such as adhesive (i.e., chemical attachment) or stitched thread (i.e., mechanical attachment) to form the joint/weld point. Once formed from the two layers, the mat unit has four quadrants and a plurality of longitudinal ribs integrally formed in the first layer positioned in the first and third quadrants, and a plurality of transverse ribs integrally formed in the first layer positioned in the second and fourth quadrants. Additionally, there are a plurality of longitudinal ribs integrally formed in the second layer positioned in the second and fourth quadrants, and a plurality of transverse ribs integrally formed in the second layer positioned in the first and third quadrants.

An impact damping mat comprises a base layer having a base surface with a plurality of protuberances, a damping layer overlying the base layer, a load distribution layer overlying the damping layer and an upper layer overlying the load distribution layer and having a planar top surface. The materials and dimensions of the layers cooperate to provide a selected rebound characteristic and a selected sound reduction characteristic.

The invention relates to a composite tile for an installation system, more particularly for the production of a floor covering or wall covering, comprising a tile of a floor covering or wall covering and a backing disposed on the lay-on face of the tile. The invention also relates to a connecting element for the connection of two composite tiles and to an installation system composed of composite tiles and also to a method for the fabrication of a composite tile. The backing consists of a fiber composite material, more particularly fiber cement.

Aspects relate to improved floor boards. Certain embodiments may be laid and fixed without the need for fixing with adhesive or nails. Example floor boards are convenient for use and simple in structure, and after a decorative strip is adopted, it further has the advantage of good decorative effects. In one embodiment, a floor board includes a four-sided surface board connected to a four-sided base board. In one embodiment, positions of board-shaped hooking tongues on two edges of the base board body and positions of board-shaping hooking tongues on two other edges of the base board body are arranged in a staggered manner, and the positions of buckles on two edges of the base board body and the positions of buckles on two other edges of the base board body are arranged in a staggered manner.

A decking system comprises a plurality of deck planks interconnected such that at least 60% of a surface of the deck plank system comprises openings to allow pass through of at least one of an environmental condition, such as, air, sunlight, rain, etc. The deck plank openings result from a plurality of evenly spaced parallel rib elements that span across from one side of the deck plank to the other side, wherein the spacing between the rib elements provides the pass through openings, and the rib elements are fixed and supported in their orientation by a plurality of rib spacers and U-shaped support tabs between the rib elements. The openings adjacent a first and second length side, comprise a plurality of regularly spaced, recessed fastening supports within them. The deck planks also comprise a plurality of inter-locking tabs at an external perimeter to facilitate assembly of the deck plank system.
