Abstract:
A gas water heater including a water container adapted to be heated by a gas burner; and an enclosure surrounding the burner, the enclosure having at least one entryway adapted to allow air and fumes to enter the enclosure without igniting flammable gases or vapors outside of the enclosure.
Abstract:
A pellet fuel burner, such as a cooking grill, has a fire box with a generally open top plane. A pellet burner unit is disposed in the fire box below the cooking surface. A pellet feeding device opens into the fire box and is disposed so as to feed pellets into the burner unit. A pressure box has an inlet supplied with combustion air at a positive pressure. A plurality of outlets are provided in the pressure box and disposed so as to create a turbulent combustion air flow in the pellet burner unit. The outlets may include a first outlet disposed above the burner unit and a second outlet disposed below the burner unit. The turbulent combustion air flow and supply of pellets, particularly corn kernels from the pellet feeding device allow for a continuous sustained combustion of the fuel in the pellet burner.

Abstract:
A roller grate arrangement for garbage-incinerating plants, in which a plurality of rollers with horizontal and parallel axes lie in an inclined plane. Primary air is fed to interiors of the rollers by air boxes located below the grate. The rollers have surfaces with air gaps for supplying the primary air, and the rollers are positioned to form a space between adjacent rollers. A component in the space between adjacent rollers, bridges the space between adjacent rollers. The component is free of air passages. Blast pipes are positioned in spaces between adjacent rollers and are connected to a separate system for feeding supplemental air.

Abstract:
A process wherein an incineration grate is tempered by a medium that flows therethrough. The grate has a number of hollow plates made of sheet metal. Each plate lies on the next underlying plate. A connection pipe is arranged on one side of each plate and a discharge pipe is arranged on the other side of each plate for the flowing medium. The individual plates are crossed by a plurality of tubular elements which open on the top side of the plates. Primary air is supplied to the materials to be incinerated through the tubular elements. Primary air supply is individually dosed to each tubular element.
Abstract:
The high efficiency solid fuel combustion apparatus comprises a thermally insulated wall structure defining an upwardly open primary combustion chamber, a solid fuel support disposed within the primary combustion chamber, and a secondary combustion air supply device mounted on top of the primary combustion chamber. The secondary air supply device comprises a frusto-conical shell open at both axial ends and oriented with its larger axial end opening to the primary combustion chamber. The shell has spaced inner and outer walls defining a frusto-conical air space there between, with the inner and outer walls being circumferentially sealed to one another and the inner wall being perforated for expelling secondary combustion air into the pyrolytic gasses generated by the burning fuel in the primary combustion chamber. The solid fuel support may include a horizontal lower grate and two inclined side grates fitted with primary air guide vanes to direct primary air onto the charcoal residue that accumulates on the horizontal grate.
Abstract:
A pulsating hearth for an incinerator wherein the hearth is suspended on a fixed frame for movement in a limited short arc to urge random size particles burning in a pile on the hearth in a predetermined path intermittently across the surface of the hearth. Movement is imparted to the hearth in periodic pulses preferably by inflating sets of air bags mounted on the frame, which stroke the hearth to move it a short distance from an initial position and jar it against the frame, thus impelling the burning particles a short distance by inertia and concurrently stoking the burning pile upon each stroke, and then returning the hearth to its initial position. The hearth may also have a plurality of nozzles connected to a source of air for delivering gently flowing air to the burning pile on the hearth.
Abstract:
An improved heating unit comprises a combustion chamber which includes a fuel-supporting perforated burning platform located a distance from the bottom of the combustion chamber. A perforated air plenum is disposed within the combustion chamber a short distance from the combustion chamber top wall to overly a portion of the burning platform. A blower forces air upwardly through the perforations in the burning platform to facilitate waste material combustion and the blower also forces air downwardly through the plenum perforations against the burning platform to further oxygenate the flames and thereby achieve nearly complete combustion. The pressure of incoming air into the combustion chamber forces the exhaust gases through the air passageway above the plenum and out through an exhaust pipe. A heat exchanger, taking the form of a water jacket, surrounds the combustion chamber to cool the combustion chamber and to recover the heat radiated upon combustion of the waste combustible material.
