Abstract: Methods may include emplacing an emulsion into an annular region of a Taylor-Couette (TC) device; flowing the emulsion through the annular region created by a first annular surface and a second annular surface; contacting one or more shear sensors disposed on a surface of the annular region with the flowing emulsion, wherein contact with the one or more shear sensors generates a signal that scales with shear stress exerted by the flowing emulsion, and determining one or more of wall shear stress from the signal obtained from the one or more shear sensors. Methods may also include determining the apparent viscosity of the fluid composition from the stress measured on the wall of the TC device.

Abstract: A process of obtaining a fabric includes obtaining an image of a paper product having a three-dimensional structure, determining a pattern that corresponds to the three-dimensional structure of the paper product by using an image analysis program that is stored in a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium to analyze the image of the paper product, and obtaining a fabric with a surface that approximates the pattern by selecting a fabric that has a pattern that is known to approximately correspond to the determined pattern.

Abstract: A pressure detection tablet is disclosed. The tablet is a capsule including a dye encapsulated within an inner coating, in which the inner coating is configured to rupture at a pressure equal to or greater than a pressure threshold. The tablet further includes an outer coating surrounding the capsule, in which the outer coating is configured to provide delivery of the capsule to a targeted site. The dye may be a non-metabolized, water soluble dye, such that a ruptured capsule releases the dye which can be visually detected in the urine. In some embodiments, the disclosure provides a method of making the tablet, using the tablet to detect peak pressure in the colon and reducing the risk of developing a colonic disorder.

Abstract: A sensing device including a sensor, a triggering mechanism is provided. The sensing device is attachable to a covering positioned in contact with a body such that the triggering mechanism extends between first and second segments of the body. Movement of at least one of the first and second segments activates the triggering mechanism to provide an input to the sensor, actuating the sensor to generate an output defining at least one measurement of the movement. The measurement may be one or more of rotation, translation, velocity, acceleration, and joint angle. An intermediate mechanism may be interposed between the triggering mechanism and the sensor. The sensing device may include a means to process or record measurements corresponding to movement. A system and method of measuring the movement is also provided.
