Abstract:
An apparatus is capable of executing a facsimile communication using an Error Correction Mode (ECM) function based on a facsimile procedure with a communication partner connected via an Internet Protocol (IP) network. In response to receiving, from the communication partner via the network, a communication start request including information indicating a transport protocol for use in the communication, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication does not have the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is capable of executing the communication using the ECM function. Otherwise, if the apparatus determines that the transport protocol for use in the communication has the error correction function, the apparatus sends to the communication partner a notification indicating that the apparatus is incapable of executing the communication using the ECM function.
Abstract:
When the present modem control apparatus detects that the receive level of a probing signal in phase 2 of the pre-communication procedure or a tone signal with a specific frequency in phase 2 of the pre-communication procedure is lower than a prescribed value, it sets the transmission rate of the control channel to a low rate of 1200 bps. In this case, the modem control apparatus sets the transmission rate to 1200 bps through a prescribed bit of the MPh signal in the communication control procedure and performs the setting that will not permit communications with the answer modem at different transmission rates, through the second prescribed bit of said MPh signal, and notifies those settings to the answer modem, thus carrying out communications at a lower transmission rate.
Abstract:
A method for adjusting scanning speed of a scanner according to the data transmission rate between the scanner and a host computer to avoid accumulation of image data in the scanner's memory buffer is disclosed. The method comprises the following steps:(1) initiating a time counter and transmitting a test data packet from the scanner to the host computer;(2) acknowledging the scanner after the test data packet is completely received by the host computer;(3) stopping the time counter and calculating the time used for transmitting the test data packet;(4) calculating a data transmission rate according to the size of the test data packet and the time used to transmit the test data packet; and(5) adjusting the scanning speed of the scanner according to the data transmission rate.
Abstract:
A data communicating device is provided having an actuating means that is driven when data is to be transmitted/received. Prior to transmitting/receiving data, the actuating means is driven and a transmission condition is set in accordance with a determined noise level of the actuating means. The data is then transmitted/received in accordance with the thus set transmission condition.
Abstract:
A facsimile terminal communicates facsimile data with an opposite facsimile terminal through an ISDN circuit. Even if the communication speed of the facsimile terminal is different from that of the opposite terminal, the facsimile terminal can surely exchange the facsimile data with the opposite terminal. The facsimile terminal includes a transmission and reception unit for transmitting and receiving data to and from the opposite terminal through the ISDN circuit, a receiving condition judging unit for judging or determining whether or not the transmission and reception unit receives data normally. The facsimile terminal also includes a speed switching instruction unit for providing a speed switching instruction when the transmission and reception unit does not normally or successfully receive data. In addition a speed switching control unit is provided for switching the communication speed of the transmission and reception unit from one speed to another according to the speed switching instruction.
Abstract:
A facsimile device transmits image data from a calling station to a facsimile device at a called station over a transmission line. The facsimile device has an image reader for reading image data to be transmitted, and a driver including a motor for actuating the image reader to read the image data. When a TCF signal is transmitted from the calling station to the called station to check the condition of the transmission line, a controller energizes the motor, which results in electrical noise being generated, corrupting the TCF signal. The controller then controls a transmission rate at which the image data is to be transmitted depending on the level of electrical noise in the TCF signal, that is detected at the called station. Since the transmission rate is established depending on the level of electrical noise, communication or decoding errors are reduced during the transmission of the image data.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for responding to a data transfer are disclosed. One embodiment comprises a method that includes the following steps: determining a sustainable data transfer rate for data transfers to/from an external memory medium, acquiring a data stream, transforming the data stream, and selecting a value for at least one operational parameter associated with acquiring or transforming the data stream in response to the sustainable data transfer rate.
Abstract:
When carrying out pre-processing of image signal transmission using the control channel of a full-duplex modem and switching image signal transmission to the primary channel of a half-duplex modem, the answer modem stops the transmission carrier upon confirmation that all “1” signals with 40 bit or more have been received from the calling modem, restarts the reception of all “1” signals after the elapse of a certain period of time, confirms the end of all “1” signals and switches to the primary channel.
Abstract:
In a data communication apparatus, the baud rate and the bit rate of a modem thereof are set independently of each other according to the condition of data communication. Thus, optimum data communication suited to the line condition can be performed.
