Abstract: Disclosed is lubrication for a slow-running two-stroke engine, especially marine diesel engines. The lubrication uses Swirl Injection Principle by locating the lubricant injectors closer to the TDC than ⅕ of the full stroke of the piston, which is closer than in typical marine diesel engines. This can be achieved by reconstructing cylinder liners or by adding new mounting holes to the cylinder. In case that such reconstruction is not possible, an improvement of SIP principles can also be achieved by directing the spray towards the TDC or to a location on the cylinder liner closer to the TDC as compared to the location of the SIP valves, for example under an angle of more than 30 degrees or even more than 60 degrees when measured from a plane normal to the cylinder axis.

The interior chamber directs fluid received via the inlet through the nozzle outlets and out of the piston cooling jet assembly in a direction towards a spray target.

Abstract: A body of an oil jet is provided with: an oil supply port; a cylinder; and an oil injection port. A piston valve is accommodated in the cylinder. The piston valve forms in the cylinder a differential pressure room which is a closed compartment. In the piston valve, an orifice which makes the differential pressure room being communicated with a side of the oil supply port is formed. The piston valve is biased toward a position at which the oil injection port is closed by a spring. A first oil injection nozzle is connected to the oil injection port. A leak hole which allows oil to be leaked outside of the cylinder from the differential pressure room is open at the side surface of the cylinder. Further, a second oil injection nozzle is connected to the leak hole.

Abstract: A ferrous piston for gasoline powered engines having dimensions which achieve reduced mass and improved performance is provided. The piston crown has a thickness of less than 4 mm and includes valve pockets with an axial clearance between the valve pockets and an uppermost ring groove of less than 1.5 mm. The pin bosses have an axial thickness of less than 3.7% of a bore diameter, which is the largest outer diameter of the piston, measured between a pin bore and the crown at 1 mm from an inner face forming the pin bore. Each pin boss has a radial thickness of less than 3% of the bore diameter measured between the pin bore and a lower end of the pin boss. An undercrown surface presents a projected area of less than 45% of a total piston bore area, wherein the total piston bore area is πBD2/4, BD being the bore diameter.

When the shaft closes the leak channel, the valve is switched to a closed valve state of closing the outflow hole.
