Abstract:
Methods for the preparation of substituted meta-phenylalkoxynitrobenzenes and their use as starting materials for the synthesis of herbicidal meta-phenylalkoxyphenylurea.
Abstract:
2,4,6,-trinitrobenzyl chloride is converted to HNS (2,2',4,4',-6,6'-hexanostilbene) by reaction with hydroxide ion supplied by aqueous amines and ammonia. The present method increases the yield of HNS substantially over that obtainable by conventional reaction with sodium hydroxide.
Abstract:
The explosive 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) is desensitized by dissolving it in oleum of from 10 to 40% (by weight) in strength. The solutions formed preferably contain at least 400 g and at most 480 g of dissolved TNT per liter of oleum in oleum of 20-25% strength. They are especially useful for the preparation of phloroglucinol.
Abstract:
Novel polyfunctional compounds and a novel process for their preparation are disclosed. These compounds may be converted into the acid or salt forms of cis and trans aconitic acids as well as into a racemic mixture of isocitric acid, alloisocitric acid and the lactones of isocitric acid and alloisocitric acid and their salts. All of the acid and salt forms produced are useful as metal sequestrants and/or detergent builders. The novel polyfunctional compounds can also be saponified to their corresponding alkali metal salts which, in turn, are also metal ion sequestering agents and detergent builders. The polyfunctional compounds are the reaction products obtained from the reaction of selected salts of monoalkyl esters of maleic acid with selected active hydrogen containing compounds.
Abstract:
A method of preparing 2,4-difluoroaniline by reacting 2,4,5-trichloronitrobenzene with a fluorinating agent to form 2,4-difluoro-5-chloronitrobenzene which is then hydrogenated with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst to form 2,4-difluoroaniline.
Abstract:
A method of preparing nitro-substituted diphenyl ethers comprises contacting a salt of a phenol with a nitro-substituted halobenzene in the presence of a phase-transfer reagent under reaction conditions and recovering the reaction product.
Abstract:
The invention provides novel phenoxyalkylcarboxylic acids which are useful in therapy as metabolic regulators and in agriculture as selective herbicides.
