Abstract: A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car extending longitudinally along a length of the belt. An inner belt layer formed from a first material is bonded to the plurality of tension elements at a first side of the belt. The inner belt layer forms an inner belt surface interactive with a traction sheave of an elevator system. An outer belt layer formed from a second material is bonded to the plurality of tension elements at a second side of the belt. The plurality of tension elements are located between the first side and the second side.

Abstract: A termination device for a suspension member of an elevator system includes a housing, and a wedge assembly positioned in the housing. The wedge assembly is interactive with the suspension member to apply a clamping force to the suspension member in response to an axial load acting on the suspension member. The wedge assembly includes a compressible cushion configured to increase uniformity of the clamping force applied to the suspension member by the wedge assembly. An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car located in the hoistway, a suspension member operably connected to the elevator car to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway, and a termination device located in the hoistway and operably connected to a suspension member end of the suspension member.

Abstract: An elevator system includes a hoistway and an elevator car suspended in the hoistway via one or more suspension members. A counterweight is suspended in the hoistway via the one or more suspension members to balance operation of the elevator car. A machine is positioned at the hoistway to drive the one or more suspension members along the hoistway, driving motion of the elevator car and/or counterweight along the hoistway. A suspension member termination is supported at the machine, to secure an end of the one or more suspension members. A drive system for an elevator includes one or more elevator suspension members and a machine interactive with the one or more elevator suspension members to drive motion of an elevator car. A suspension member termination is supported at the machine to secure an end of the one or more suspension members at the machine.

Abstract: A belt for suspending and/or driving an elevator car includes a tension member extending along a length of the belt, the tension member including a plurality of fibers bonded in a first polymer matrix, the plurality of fibers extending parallel to and discontinuous along a length of the belt and arranged with one or more lengthwise extending gaps between lengthwise adjacent fibers. A jacket substantially retains the tension member. A method of forming a tension member for an elevator system belt includes arranging a plurality of fibers into a fiber bundle. The plurality of fibers extend parallel to a length of the belt and have one or more lengthwise extending gaps between lengthwise extending fibers. The plurality of fibers is bonded to a first polymer matrix.

Abstract: An overspeed protection switch, an overspeed governor assembly and an elevator system are provided by the present disclosure. The overspeed protection switch includes: a trigger device including a trigger member and at least one protrusion, wherein the trigger member is capable of rotating to a triggered position from an untriggered position when being toggled, and the at least one protrusion is connected to the trigger member and rotates together with the trigger member; an actuation device including an action end capable of performing a linear movement; and a reset member which is connected with the action end of the actuation device and is translated with the linear movement of the action end of the actuation device so as to push one of the at least one protrusion to drive the trigger member to return to the untriggered position from the triggered position.
