Abstract:
A bracelet to be worn on the wrist which includes a dispenser for dispensing liquid or powdered materials such as sunblocks or germicides. The dispenser on the palm side of the wrist and when the user presses an activator, the dispenser emits a portion of the material onto the user's palm. The dispenser is approximately the size of a wrist watch. A preferred embodiment of the dispenser employs a pump which will work at any orientation. The pump uses air pressure differences produced by the movement of a piston to pull the material into a chamber and expel it from the chamber through a one-way valve. The one-way valve in a preferred embodiment of the pump is made from a silicon diaphragm which opens when it flexes in response to pressure differences and a support for the diaphragm which permits it to flex in only one direction.
Abstract:
An insert for a drill bit that includes diamond particles disposed in a matrix material, wherein the diamond particles have a contiguity of 15% or less is disclosed. A method of forming a diamond-impregnated cutting structure, that includes loading a plurality of substantially uniformly coated diamond particles into a mold cavity, pre-compacting the substantially uniformly coated diamond particles using a cold-press cycle, and heating the compacted, substantially uniformly coated diamond particles with a matrix material to form the diamond impregnated cutting structure is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for dynamically budgeting power usage in a data processing system. In one aspect, a data processing system, includes: one or more components including a first component; and a computing element, such as a microprocessor or a microcontroller, coupled to the first component to obtain one or more operating signals from the first component and to determine, based at least in part on the one or more operating signals, an estimate of a power consumption requirement of the one or more components for operating under the current condition. In one example, one or more sensors are used to determine information on actual power usage for a past period of time. A performance level setting of a second component, such as a CPU, a GPU, or a bus, is determined using the estimate and the information on the actual power usage, such as the operating voltage and frequency.
Abstract:
An electrical device has a base assembly including first contacts and a mounting mechanism for electrically leading to a power source, a latch assembly adapted to receive at least one additional electrical device that is to be mounted to the latch assembly, push and twist mechanism for engaging the latch assembly to the base assembly and a plurality of second contacts in the latch assembly adapted to be electrically connected to the first contacts of the base assembly, the second contacts being adapted to be connected to the additional electrical device.
Abstract:
A clamp assembly can support a member, in particular a light fixture or light filtering, blocking of reflecting member, on a support such as a stand, table top, shelf or the like, and permit three degrees of freedom between the member and the support. The assembly includes a first clamp arm having a mating side and an attachment side opposite from the mating side and a second clamp arm having a mating side and an opposite attachment side. A pivot journal connects the first and second arms to each other with the mating sides facing each other for rotation of the first clamp arm with respect to the second clamp arm about a first axis extending through the mating sides and journal. A hand crank or screw fixes a relative rotational position between the first and second clamp arms with respect to the first axis. A clamp is connected to the attachment side of the first clamp arm for connecting the first clamp arm to a support or member, the clamp being rotatably connected to the first clamp for rotation about a second axis which is at a non-zero angle to the first axis. A holding mechanism at the attachment side of the second clamp connects the second clamp arm to a member or support. The holding mechanism permits rotation about a third axis which is at a non-zero angle to the first axis so that the clamp and the holding mechanism permit relative positioning of the support and the member with three degrees of freedom.
Abstract:
A miniature dispenser for dispensing fluid materials such as liquids or powders. The dispenser has a body which contains a piston and a material reservoir which is separable from the body and contains the fluid material. The material reservoir includes the passages, valves, and nozzles through which the material being dispensed flows and also includes an integral collapsible material container. A user may assemble the body to different material reservoirs and each material reservoir may be tailored to the properties of the material it contains. The dispenser is small enough to be worn as part of a bracelet or to be dipped to a pocket, belt, backpack, or purse.
Abstract:
A strut holding assembly for flexible elongated struts engaging a flexible wall, the assembly including a hub, a plurality of holding arms pivotally connected at spaced locations to the hub between storage positions adjacent the hub, and extended positions extending outwardly of the hub, each holding arm being adapted to immobilize a free inner end of one strut. At least one of the holding arms has a seat adapted for receiving and immobilize the free inner end of a strut in at least one direction and a hook spaced from the seat by a fulcrum distance, the hook being adapted for engaging the strut at a distance from the free inner end of the strut equal to the fulcrum distance, for immobilizing the strut in a bent and tensioned position and in at least three directions and being free to move in a remaining direction.
Abstract:
A light comprising a rear light modifying panel having a front surface and opposite sides; a lamp support panel assembly connected at least at two spaced apart locations to the rear light modifying panel assembly, for supporting at least one lamp in front of the front surface and between the opposite sides of the rear light modifying panel assembly; and a front light modifying panel having a rear surface spaced from the front surface of the rear light modifying panel, the front light modifying panel having opposite sides connected to the opposite sides of the rear light modifying panel. The lamp support panel assembly is between the front and rear light modifying panels for holding the at least one lamp between the front and rear light modifying panels.
