Abstract: A polymer body includes a first thermoplastic polymer, and a second thermoplastic polymer. The first thermoplastic polymer and the second thermoplastic polymer form a continuous solid structure. The first thermoplastic polymer forms an external supporting structure that at least partially envelops the second thermoplastic polymer. A first flow temperature of the first thermoplastic polymer is at least 10° C. higher than a second flow temperature of the second thermoplastic polymer. The first thermoplastic polymer may be removable by exposure to a selective solvent.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for electrolysis of urea is capable of removing urea from waste-water generated by human urine or agricultural run-off while simultaneously producing cleaner water and hydrogen gas. The apparatus and method employ at least one water reduction electrode located close to at least one urea oxidation electrode. The water reduction electrode operates to generate a locally high pH such that the urea oxidation electrode operates in a locally high pH envelope where it can perform its reaction efficiently to break down the urea with little or no impact on the pH of the bulk solution.

Abstract: Protective coating to prevent sublimation are disclosed. More particularly, the protective coatings comprise one or more alkaline earth halide materials, or mixtures thereof, to prevent sublimation. The alkaline earth halide material of the coating can be judiciously selected to match the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the material of the external surface of the underlying substrate coated. The protective coatings may be advantageous for protecting external surfaces of thermoelectric materials, parts and devices at high temperature to prevent sublimation and material loss.

Abstract: A non-contact power meter system for measuring power in an energized cable is provided. It includes: at least one electric field sensor; a plurality of magnetic field sensors, wherein the at least two magnetic field sensors together are configured to measure a magnetic field in a tangential direction and a radial direction with respect the energized cable measured; and a processor, which receives measurement signals from the various sensors, and is configured to measure power in the energized cable. Abstract: Sensor interconnects and supports and methods of making them utilize phonon disruptors for increased thermal resistance while maintaining acceptable electrical signal quality in materials. Phonon disruptors include, but are not limited to, structural features such as interfaces, grain boundaries, and point scattering sites, for example, that are designed to scatter heat carriers while allowing electrons to pass through the material. Some embodiments herein involve designing selected stacks of alternating or sequential material pairs within sensor interconnects.

Abstract: A highly-conformal, pliable thin electromagnetic (EM) skin for altering at least one electromagnetic property of a surface includes a pliable thin film, and sub-wavelength elements incorporated into and/or on the pliable thin film which are smaller in scale than the wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation they are intended to influence. The electromagnetic skin readily conforms to contours of a surface to which it attaches or otherwise adheres to. Such electromagnetic skin can be used to cover various surface and platforms on equipment, walls, vehicles, and aircraft to change the electromagnetic properties of such surfaces to achieve certain functions that are not achievable with simple ground plane surfaces. The EM skin may be judiciously configured to alter at least one electromagnetic property of the surface by blocking, absorbing, enhancing, and/or bending waves of electromagnetic radiation.

Abstract: A system and method for distributed wireless communications comprising a first group of agents selected and configured to wirelessly transmit a communication signal to a client, wherein the first group of agents is capable of forming a radiation beam carrying the communication signal vectored substantially toward the client, and a second group of agents selected and configured to wirelessly broadcast communication signal interference, wherein the second group of agents is capable of forming a radiation beam not vectored substantially toward the client. Consequently, the first group of agents securely communicates with the client and the second group of agents suppresses the ability of an unauthorized, eavesdropping receiver from intercepting the communications signal.
