Abstract:
A wound dressing material comprises first and second wound-contact scrims, and an antimicrobial layer disposed therebetween. The wound-contact scrims comprise water-sensitive fibers comprising a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units. The wound dressing material may be contacted with an exposed surface of a wound. A method of making the wound dressing material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A wound dressing material comprises a base fiber web, a wound-contact scrim, and an antimicrobial layer. The wound-contact scrim comprises water-sensitive fibers comprising a copolymer comprising divalent hydroxyethylene monomer units and divalent dihydroxybutylene monomer units. The antimicrobial layer is sandwiched between the base fiber web and the wound-contact scrim. The wounds dressing material may be contacted with an exposed surface of a wound. A method of making the wound dressing material is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A medical article and methods of using same. The medical article can include a machine direction (MD) and a cross-machine direction (CMD); a support layer; and a viscoelastic layer. The viscoelastic layer can be coupled to the support layer, and the viscoelastic layer can be discontinuous in the MD and/or the CMD. The viscoelastic layer can recover at least 70% of its deformation after 48 hours at room temperature after being strained to 50% elongation, such that the medical article has a first tensile stiffness T1 at a first strain rate S1, and a second tensile stiffness T1 at a second strain rate S1. The ratio of S1/S2 can be at least 100, and the ratio of T1/T2 can be at least 1.5. The method can include wrapping the medical article around a body part; applying the first strain rate S1; and applying the second strain rate S2.
Abstract:
A medical article securement system for securing a medical article. The system can include a patch; a vertical wall comprising a first major surface positioned to face the medical article and a second major surface comprising a first mating surface of a mechanical fastener; and a flap comprising a first major surface positioned to face the medical article, at least a portion of the first major surface comprising a second mating surface of a mechanical fastener configured to engage the first mating surface of the vertical wall.
Abstract:
A medical article securement system. The system can include a patch comprising a skin-contact adhesive. The system can further include at least one flap comprising a fixed end coupled to the patch, and a free end that is movable with respect to the patch and configured to secure at least a portion of the medical article to the patch. At least the free end of the flap can include a first major surface configured to face the medical article, at least a portion of the first major surface comprising a first mating surface of a mechanical fastener; and a second major surface, opposite the first major surface, configured to face away from the medical article, at least a portion of the second major surface comprising a second mating surface of the mechanical fastener configured to engage the first mating surface of the same flap, a different flap, or both.
