Abstract:
The invention includes a hot melt adhesive composition including an olefin polymer and a high melt point hydrocarbon tackifying agent, such compositions unexpectedly provide improved bonding between the layers found in a disposable absorbent article. In particular, such compositions improve the bond between the nonwoven top sheet and the acquisition distribution layer.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a hot melt adhesive composition that includes a first amorphous alpha-olefin copolymer derived from propylene and at least one olefin comonomer other than propylene, the first amorphous alpha-olefin copolymer having a viscosity from 750 centipoise (cP) to less than 50,000 centipoise at 190° C., a second polyolefin derived from propylene and optionally a comonomer, the second polyolefin exhibiting a heat of fusion from 15 Joules per gram (J/g) to no greater than 50 J/g, a hydrogenated styrenic block copolymer that includes styrene polymer blocks and at least one hydrogenated conjugated diene polymer block, tackifying agent, and liquid plasticizer.
Abstract:
The invention features a disposable absorbent article including a thermoplastic composition applied in a full coat layer (i.e. a layer with 100% coverage) as a discrete shape to either the top sheet or to a component of the absorbent core (i.e. core or core wrap). The discrete shape is strategically located to decrease the likelihood of leaks in the desired location. The thermoplastic composition serves as a leak barrier to prevent bodily fluids and solids (i.e. urine, stool, menstrual flow, wound seepage) from leaking from the absorbent core.
Abstract:
A reaction product and hot melt adhesive compositions that include the reaction product are disclosed. The reaction product includes the reaction product of a first polymer that includes at least one of polypropylene homopolymer and polypropylene-alpha-olefin copolymer, a first wax that includes at least one of polyethylene wax, Fischer Tropsch wax and paraffin wax, and a free radical initiator and has a viscosity of no greater than 12,000 centipoise at 177° C.
Abstract:
A pressure-sensitive hot melt adhesive composition is disclosed that includes at least 10% by weight of a first propylene thermoplastic elastomer, at least 25% by weight of a first tackifying agent exhibiting a softening point of at least 120° C., and at least 25% by weight plasticizer.
Abstract:
This invention claims a disposable article including at least two bonded regions, one of the regions has elastic properties; the other region is different from the first.
