Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a display panel, a light source unit, and a controller which controls the display panel and the light source unit, wherein the controller applies scattering voltage between a common electrode and a first pixel electrode in a first area and between the common electrode and a second pixel electrode in a second area, and a liquid crystal layer scatters light in a first display color in the first area, and scatters light in a second display color different from the first display color in the second area.
