Abstract: According to an embodiment, an illumination device includes a light guide having a first plane, a second plane opposed to the first plane and substantially parallel to the first plane, and a tilted plane opposed to the first plane and tilted to the first plane, the tilted plane and the second plane being arranged in a first direction, and a light emitting device including a first light emitting part, a second light emitting part, and a third light emitting part which are located directly below the tilted plane, arranged in the first direction, and configured to emit light having wavelengths different from each other.

Abstract: According to an aspect, a display device includes: a display panel having a display region in which pixel rows are arranged in a second direction; a scanning circuit configured to supply a drive signal to scan the pixel rows; a light source configured to emit light toward the display panel; and a light source control circuit configured to control light emission timing of the light source. The display region is divided into regions in the second direction and includes a first region including two or more pixel rows consecutively arranged in the second direction, and a second region except for the first region. The scanning circuit sequentially scans the pixel rows in the first region, and simultaneously scans two or more pixel rows consecutively arranged in the second direction in the second region.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device comprises a color filter layer, an illumination device and a selection layer. The illumination device illuminates the color filter layer with mixed light including first and second components. The color filter layer includes first and second filters. The selection layer includes a phase element layer including first and second phase elements, and first and second polarizers. The first phase element changes a polarization state of the mixed color light such that the first component is transmitted through the second polarizer. The second phase element changes a polarization state of the mixed color light such that the second component is transmitted through the second polarizer.

Abstract: A thin display device with a less bezel portion is provided. The display device includes: a first substrate with flexibility, the first substrate having a display section including a first pixel; a second substrate with flexibility; and a sealant which bonds the first substrate and the second substrate together. A curved part is provided inside the sealant in a planar view. When a surface of the first substrate opposing the second substrate is taken as a front surface and a surface opposite to the front surface is taken as a back surface, the back surface inside the curved part and the back surface outside the curved part are overlapped each other in a planar view. The display section is provided in the curved part.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a lateral electric-field type of liquid crystal display device includes a display panel and a controller, wherein a frame frequency falls within a range of 1 Hz to 10 Hz, an off-leak current of each of the TFTs has a value of 1×10−15 A or less, a resistivity of a liquid crystal and a resistivity of an alignment film both fall within one of a first range and a second range, the first range being 1×1013 to 5×1013 Ω·cm, the second range being 5×1013 to 5×1014 Ω·cm, and a relationship of “R1× C1≈R2×C2” is satisfied, where R1 is a resistance and C1 is a capacity with respect to each pixel, R2 is a resistance and C2 is a capacity with respect to each pixel.
