Abstract:
Interference in an electronic article surveillance (EAS) system is reduced by transmitting warning pulse at a predetermined time following the EAS marker exciter pulse. The predetermined time and duration of the warning pulse are chosen so that the warning pulse acts upon a noise interference avoidance process in a second non-cooperative EAS unit. More particularly, the warning electromagnetic pulse causes a timing change in a second synchronized electromagnetic exciter pulse produced by the second EAS unit when the second synchronized electromagnetic exciter pulse is concurrent with the first receive interval. This timing change causes the second EAS unit to no longer interfere with the first EAS unit.

A method and apparatus for processing mail is provided. A feeder serially feeds envelope from a stack of mail. Two cutters at a cutting station cuts one or two edges of the envelopes. As the envelopes travel from the feeder to the cutters the envelope is jogged on two edges to justify the contents with the envelopes. Additionally, an improved feeder is provided to reduce the number of jams created when feeding the envelopes from the stack.
Abstract:
A monitor support assembly comprising a support frame including a first elongated frame member forming a first surface and a second elongated frame member forming a second surface, the second frame member supported adjacent and parallel to the first frame member with the first surface facing the second surface and forming an elongated gap, a panel assembly including a first panel member having oppositely facing substantially parallel front and rear surfaces and a second panel member having oppositely facing substantially parallel front and rear surfaces, the second panel member supported adjacent the first panel member with the front surface of the first panel member facing the rear surface of the second panel member, the panel assembly supported within the gap by the first and second frame members and an electronic display mounted to the front surface of the second panel member.
Abstract:
A hand carried power tool (100) is presented which includes a vibration-producing power unit (15) interconnected with an elongate handle (20). The handle (20) has a base end (24) coupled to the power unit (15) and an opposite free end (28) configured for manual gripping. Additionally a vibration damping member (50), which permits vibration-induced movement between the base end (24) of the handle (20) and the power unit (15), interstitially located between the base end (24) of the handle (20) and the power unit (15). Furthermore, a resilient biasing member (40) is coupled between the elongate handle (20) and the power unit (15). The biasing member (40) connects to the handle (20) at a location distant from the base end (24) of the handle (20) and the biasing member (40) is configured to dampen vibration-induced relative movement between the base end (24) of the handle (20) and the power unit (15).

Abstract:
A radiotherapy system comprises a patient support, moveable along a translation axis, an imaging apparatus, comprising a first magnetic coil and a second magnetic coil, the first and second magnetic coils having a common central axis parallel to the translation axis, and being displaced from one another along the central axis to form a gap therebetween, the imaging apparatus being configured to obtain an image of a patient on the patient support, a source of radiation mounted on a chassis, the chassis being rotatable about the central axis and the source being adapted to emit a beam of radiation through the gap along a beam axis that intersects with the central axis, a multi-leaf collimator comprising a plurality of elongate leaves movable between at least a withdrawn position in which the leaf lies outside the beam, and an extended position in which the leaf projects across the beam, and a radiation detector mounted to the chassis opposite the source, the radiation detector having a plurality of detector elements aligned with the elongate leaves when projected onto an isocentric plane.
Abstract:
Testing and evaluating a directory service of a distributed computing environment. Information related to the directory service is collected and a ruleset is executed to identify one or more problem issues as a function of the collected information. The identified problem issue includes a corresponding solution that may be applied to the directory service. A report representative of the identified problem issue and corresponding solution is generated and provided to a directory service administrator or a service engineer.
