Abstract:
A water purification method and devices, and in particular a purification method effective against microbes, that uses a silane-based antimicrobial, and in particular the AEGIS MICROBE SHIELD antimicrobial, where the antimicrobial is embedded, coated, or otherwise permanently applied to a substrate or carrier, such as a solid, a porous solid, fibers or the like. A volume of microbe contaminated water is exposed to the antimicrobial carrier for sufficient residence time such that sufficient quantities of microbes are eradicated and the water is made potable. The antimicrobial carrier may be an object suspended or placed into a container or reservoir for the water, or the antimicrobial carrier may comprise the container or reservoir itself. Particulate filters or the like may also be combined with the antimicrobial container to remove other undesirable contaminants.
Abstract:
An improved cigarette butt receptacle device for receiving cigarette butts, the device having a base retaining a container member, a receiving tube member with a chute segment directing the butts into the receptacle member and a secondary housing member that encloses the chute segment to alter the external visual appearance. In an alternate embodiment, the device has a cap member that joins to the chute segment. In an alternate embodiment the device has a non-linear chute member.
Abstract:
A method of using beach wattles formed of straw or like material to replenish and renourish a beach area or to create or replace sand dunes removed by storm erosion or the like, the method comprising the steps of placing wattles to entrap sand to build up a replenished mound, then positioning additional wattles on top of the replenished mound to create a higher mound, and repeating these steps as necessary until a mound or dune of desired bulk and height is created. The wattles entrap blowing or deposited sand within the interstices of the fibrous filler material to define an anchor member. The wattles can be placed end-to-end, arranged in patterns, layered or stacked in pyramidal manner.

Abstract:
A combination filtration and anti-microbial catch basin filter disposed in a catch basin of a storm water system such that, in addition to removing particulate matter and other contaminants, the concentration of bacteria in storm water that remains resident in the sump of a catch basin after a storm event is severely reduced or eradicated. The catch basin filter comprises a filtration bag depending from the opening such that water must pass through the bag and a plurality of strips or similar members depending from the filtration bag, the length of the strips being such that they remain in contact with water resident in the bottom of the catch basin. In an alternative embodiment, the device comprises a floatation member with filtering means and anti-microbial strips depending therefrom.
Abstract:
A shopping cart carrier attachment for carrying at least one child, the child carrier having a main body with an entrance and a support platform or seat to support the child, the main body being removably attachable to the basket of the cart and to the lower frame of the cart such that the main body extends forward from and is suspended from the front of the cart. Most preferably, the child carrier is configured as a real world object, such as a vehicle.
Abstract:
An adjustable curb guard filter apparatus for filtering liquid flowing into a curbside drain and method for deploying the same. In accordance with one embodiment, the adjustable curb guard filter apparatus includes a filter sheet disposed between an upper and a lower of a pair of support bar members. The curb guard filter apparatus is deployed onto the curbside drain such that the ends of each of the support bar members exert an outwardly directed pressure against the inner lateral surfaces of the curbside drain enabling the filter sheet to form a substantially complete seal thereon. In a preferred embodiment, the lower end of the filter sheet is wrapped in a scroll-like manner around the lower support bar member such that when installed onto the curbside drain, the wrapped lower support bar member simultaneously provides dam and liquid filtration functionality along the bottom edge of the curbside drain.
Abstract:
A drainfield funnel suitable for use with either 55 gallon or 30 gallon drums, the funnel comprising a bottom having two drum rim receiving channels, one sized to correspond to a 55 gallon drum and the other sized to correspond to a 30 gallon drum, a perimeter lip, a funnel surface sloping to a spout and a generally horizontal drainfield surface formed by a number of discrete object support members, where preferably the linear openings between the object support members are relatively limited.
Abstract:
A device and method for extinguishing wellhead fires is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of placing a screen member directly onto said wellhead such that the area of combustion is entirely above said screen, raising said screen from said wellhead to create a distance of free-flowing but non-burning oil, and placing a diversion member into the flow path of the non-burning oil. The device comprises an apertured screen member which allows the oil to flow through the apertures while preventing the fire from burning below it.
Abstract:
A mat-like drain seal composed of a flexible, compressible, conformable polymer material and having at least a centralized window area and a reinforcing band positioned adjacent the edges of the drain seal, the window area being at least translucent such that liquid passing under the drain seal is visible through the drain seal.
Abstract:
A liquid containment berm and its method of creation, assembly and use, wherein the berm has a floor member and an outer wall member created by applying an expandable foam polymer along a desired retention or flow control pathway, the foam polymer expanding to form the liquid impermeable outer wall member. Apertures are provided in the floor member such that the expandable foam polymer passes through the apertures to secure the outer wall member to the underlying base surface.
