A gas bag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes a housing and a gas bag (12) accommodated in the housing. The gas bag has a gas bag wall (16). The gas bag module further includes a discharge arrangement (18) having an energetic element (22) for the selective provision of a discharge opening. The energetic element (22) is able to be activated by a control unit (20). The discharge opening is provided by material conversion of the energetic element (22).

A gas bag module (10) comprises a gas generator (16) and a generator carrier (12), to which the gas generator (16) is fastened and via which the gas generator (16) can be fastened directly or indirectly to a vehicle steering wheel (100). The generator carrier (12) consists at least partially of a multiple-component plastic (30, 32). There is further proposed a vehicle steering wheel (100) including such gas bag module (10).

A device, in particular a vehicle interior component, includes a base body (10) made of a first plastic material which is suitable for injection molding and for coating with chromium. The device furthermore includes at least one elastic partial body (16, 18) molded to the base body (10), which is made of a second plastic material which is suitable for injection molding, but not for coating with chromium. A method for manufacturing such a device with a base body (10) coated with chromium comprises the following steps: injection molding a base body (10) of the first plastic material; injection molding the partial body (16, 18) of the second plastic material to the base body (10); electroplating a chromium coating onto the base body (10), wherein the base body (10) passes through a chrome-plating bath together with the integrally molded partial body (16, 18).

Detent hooks (32) are formed on the edge of the side wall (30) facing away from the front wall (26), which engage into corresponding detent openings (34) in the base (16) of the gas generator carrier (14).

An airbag module for occupant restraint systems in vehicles has a pot-like housing part (10) made of sheet metal to the base (14) of which a gas generator is attached and to the circumferential wall (16) of which, extending upwards from the base (14), an airbag (26) and a covering cap (12) made of plastic are attached. The covering cap (12) has a supporting wall (17) that is in contact with the outside of the circumferential wall (16) of the housing part (10). The supporting wall (17) is provided with cutouts (20). On the free edge of the circumferential wall (16) of the housing part (10) facing away from the base (14), there are arranged hook-shaped metal tabs (18) which pass through the cutouts (20) of the supporting wall (17) of the covering cap (12) and which are bent on their outside in the direction toward the base (14) of the housing part (10). The free edge of the supporting wall (17) of the covering cap (12) facing the base (14) of the housing part (10) is held in contact with the circumferential wall (16) of the housing part (10) by means of bending tabs (22) that have been punched out of the housing part (10) and bent against the outside of the supporting wall (17).
