Abstract:
Handle for an object includes a member for grasping with a hand. The member has a lower opening for passage or accommodation of fingers and a web or palm of the hand, and an upper opening for passage or accommodation of a thumb of the hand. A strap may be attached to the member for embracing and securing the object. The strap can include a band portion having a tension buffer segment, and a band lock. The handle can be found in combination with the object, for example, a metal paint can, say, a one-gallon metal paint can.
Abstract:
Methods for preparing metakaolin-enhanced industrial minerals. Mixing and heating kaolinite clay with an industrial mineral, such as activated carbon, that is between 750° F. and 1400° F. results in a metakaolin/activated carbon complex that provides good mercury sorbent qualities while producing a fly ash (after use as a sorbent in emissions applications) that has a lower foaming index.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to an apparatus for and a method of measuring and selecting grain for use in milling, or seed for use in plant breeding. Said method is adapted to optically analyze seeds/grains to qualitatively and quantitatively characterize the seed/grain, and more particularly, to analyze the gradation of color, whiteness, and hard endosperm of the seed/grain. This method and apparatus perform color image analysis of seed/grain sample(s) to characterize multiple quality traits.
Abstract:
Methods for producing devolatilized and/or activated carbon in a reactor or reaction vessel of a heat treatment system from a suitable carbonaceous feedstock by introducing the feedstock into the reactor tangentially at a rotational velocity of at least 90 RPM. The methods include the steps of providing a combination of conveying means and a gas flow having various compositions and creating distinct carbonaceous feedstock material flow patterns and process conditions such that the feedstock is conveyed through the reactor or reaction vessel and heated via combustion, thereby producing activated carbon or other heat-treated carbons while concurrently avoiding adverse reaction conditions. Single and two-stage heat treatment systems may be used to heat a carbon feedstock, to which one or more industrial minerals may be added to co-produce compositions such as lime with the heat-treated carbon.
Abstract:
A two stage coal extracting process has a first liquid hydrogen donor solvent oil extraction stage and a second stage comprising catalytic hydrocracking of the extract. Desired levels of hydrocracking and hydrogenation of the extract, with an acceptable level of napthene formation, are achieved by using on the catalyst a mixture of a promoted W or Mo catalyst with an unpromoted W or Mo catalyst.
Abstract:
A missile guidance system having means for deriving from a target angle tracking loop a signal indicative of an apparent movement of a target off a missile-to-target sight line caused by a change in missile attitude, and means for feeding said apparent movement signal into a space stabilization loop to adjust the position of the aerial to compensate for said apparent movement.
Abstract:
The present invention is an externally installed control switch cover assembly to be used with equipment with a ribbed edge and the control switch located adjacent to the ribbed edge. More particularly, the present invention may be used on an IBM-PC computer to cover, protect and lock into position the power switch of the computer.
Abstract:
A hydrotreating catalyst which is resistant to carbonaceous deposits and is particularly useful for hydrotreating coal-derived liquids, is molybdenum or tungsten disulphide in an amount of 0.1 to 10% by weight, substantially completely on the outer surface of an active carbon support having a surface area in excess of 800 m.sup.2 /g. The catalyst can be made by absorbing molybdenum or tungsten trisulphide onto the active carbon support and reducing the trisulphide to the disulphide.

Abstract:
Methods and systems for producing activated carbon from a particulate coal feedstock that include the introduction of a buffering gas, a moisture spray, a finest carbon fraction as a fuel, and certain gas ratios. Different methods and system configurations allow the production of activated carbon or other heat-treated carbons while concurrently avoiding adverse reaction conditions.
