    Abstract: The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support configurations for sidelink beam management. In some cases, a base station may determine sidelink beams for beam sweeping and instruct a user equipment (UE) which sidelink beams to use. The base station may determine the sidelink beams for beam sweeping based on a report sent from the UE. In other cases, the UE may determine transmission sidelink beams for beam sweeping based on the UE capabilities beam input from the receiving UE, or the base station determining which beams to use and allocating resources for the beam sweeping. Additionally or alternatively, the base station may determine a portion of the sidelink beams for beam sweeping and the UE may determine a portion of the sidelink beams to use for beam sweeping in addition to the beams indicated by the base station.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may be configured to support multi-beam, or multi-panel operations, or both which may allow multiple sidelink transmissions to occur simultaneously. In some cases, flexible beam-management for the beamformed sidelink communications is implemented to manage the beams. A transmitting UE may indicate transmission beam information to the base station that the base station may use to schedule sidelink transmissions as part of a beam management procedure. The beam management procedure may allow a transmitting UE to update transmission beam information based on the mobility of the sidelink UEs and other environmental factors. In some cases, beam management includes a beam training procedure that may be implemented to refine the sidelink beams, where support for multi-panel and multi-beam operation may allow for multiple beams to be trained simultaneously.

    Abstract: A method of wireless communication, by a first sidelink user equipment (UE), includes periodically receiving a set of sidelink beam failure detection reference signals (RSs) from a second sidelink UE. The method includes incrementing a beam failure detection (BFD) counter in response to one or more reference signals of the set of sidelink beam failure detection RSs having a received signal strength below a threshold. The first sidelink UE starts a beam failure detection timer in response to the reference signal(s) of the set of sidelink beam failure detection reference signals having the received signal strength below the threshold. Another method by a sidelink UE may periodically transmit a set of sidelink BFD RSs to another sidelink UE. The set of sidelink BFD RSs comprise one or more sidelink receive RSs. The sidelink UE configures the other sidelink UE with the sidelink receive BFD RSs.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a configured grant that indicates time-frequency resources for a user equipment (UE) to use to transmit sidelink or uplink messages in a wireless communications system. To reduce the amount of low priority traffic that may interfere with higher priority traffic, the base station may configure a threshold probability to allow high priority sidelink transmissions and to cancel low priority transmissions. The base station may transmit a cancellation indication that includes a priority indication instructing the UE to cancel transmissions having a priority less than a priority threshold during the allocated time-frequency resources. Based on transmitting the cancellation indication, the base station may cancel transmissions that have low priority, and the UE may determine whether to transmit (or to refrain from transmitting) one or more messages based on the priority of the message.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Sidelink UEs may be configured with a synchronization reference signal that may be used by the UEs to synchronize time and frequency resources. A first and second UE may perform a beam sweeping procedure to identify transmit and receive beams to use for communications between the UEs. A synchronization reference signal procedure may be initiated and the first UE may receive a sidelink synchronization reference signal from the second UE using the established receive beam. The UEs may align time and frequency resources for communications between the UEs and the UEs may communicate via the sidelink channel based on the time synchronization, frequency synchronization, or both, determined using the sidelink synchronization signal. In some cases, a sidelink UE may receive multiple synchronization reference signals from multiple sidelink UEs simultaneously, where each synchronization reference signal may include a UE identifier.
