Abstract: A health care band operably attaches a biosensor to a patient. The biosensor includes one or more sensors for collecting vitals of a patient and a wireless transmitter that is configured to communicate with an EMR network that stores and maintains an EMR of the patient. The biosensor stores a unique identification associated with the patient's EMR such that vitals measured by the biosensor may be transmitted with the patient's unique identification for storage in the patient's EMR. The sensors in the biosensor may include a temperature sensor and motion detector/accelerometer. In an embodiment, one of the sensors includes a photoplethysmography (PPG) based sensor configured to continuously or periodically measure a patient's vitals, such as heart rate, pulse, blood oxygen levels, NO concentration levels, or other blood analytics.

Abstract: An optical circuit detects PPG signals reflected from skin tissue at one or more different wavelengths. A processing circuit integrated in the biosensor or in communication with the biosensor processes the PPG signals to obtain a period of vasodilation, a level of vasodilation and rate of change of the level of vasodilation. The processing circuit compares the level of vasodilation to a normal range and determines an arterial stiffness index using the comparison and the rate of change of the level of vasodilation.

Abstract: A biosensor includes an optical sensor circuit that emits light directed at skin tissue of a patient at a plurality of wavelengths. A first and second spectral response of light reflected from the tissue is obtained around a first wavelength in a UV range and a second wavelength in an IR range. A measurement of a substance in blood flow is then determined from the spectral responses. A risk of a health condition is obtained using the measurement. The health condition may include one or more of hyperglycemia, diabetes or hypoglycemia.

Abstract: A biosensor for monitoring nitric oxide (NO) of a patient in vivo, includes a PPG circuit configured to obtain a first spectral response for light reflected at a first wavelength from skin tissue of the patient, wherein the first wavelength has a high absorption coefficient for nitric oxide in arterial blood flow and obtain a second spectral response for light reflected at a second wavelength from skin tissue of the patient, wherein the second wavelength has a low absorption coefficient for nitric oxide in arterial blood flow. The biosensor further includes a processing circuit configured to determine an NO measurement value for nitric oxide using the first spectral response and the second spectral response and obtain an adjusted measurement value of nitric oxide by compensating the NO measurement value using a measurement value for at least a first species of hemoglobin.

Abstract: A vehicle includes one or more integrated biosensors, such as finger sensors or other user touchpoints. The integrated biosensors are configured to obtain biosensor data, such as a patient's vitals or concentrations of substances in the blood flow of a user. A control module of a vehicle receives the biosensor data and controls operation of one or more systems of the vehicle in response to the biosensor data. The control module may also present the biosensor data on a display of the vehicle and receive user commands to control the biosensors. The control module may also generate warnings for display in response to the biosensor data exceeding one or more predetermined thresholds.

Abstract: A biosensor includes a photoplethysmography (PPG) circuit configured to obtain spectral responses at one or more wavelengths from skin tissue of the patient over a predetermined time period. The biosensor monitors the color of the blood to detect a change in the baseline color of blood flow over the predetermined time period. The biosensor may determine a level of red blood cells or white blood cells or a risk of an infection using the change in the baseline color of blood flow. The biosensor may also detect other parameters to detect an infection or identify a type of infection including liver enzyme levels, nitric oxide levels, heart rate or vasodilation in the underlying tissue.

Abstract: A biosensor identifies a blood type using photoplethysmography (PPG) technology. A PPG circuit obtains a plurality of spectral responses at a plurality of wavelengths detected from skin of a user. A processing circuit determines a blood factor indicator using the plurality of spectral responses. The blood factor indicator may include a signal quality parameter or a ratio R value. A calibration database includes a correlation of the blood factor indicator to a plurality of blood types. The blood type of the user is identified using the blood factor indicator and the calibration database.
