Abstract: In one aspect, a fingerprint sensor device includes sensing circuitry to generate a sensor signal responsive to detecting a contact input associated with a fingerprint. The sensing circuitry includes a fingerprint sensor to detect the contact input and generate a signal indicative of an image of the fingerprint. The sensing circuitry includes a live finger sensor to generate a signal indicative of an identification of the fingerprint as belonging to a live finger. The generated sensor signal includes the signal indicative of the image of the fingerprint and the signal indicative of the identification of the fingerprint as belonging to a live finger. The fingerprint sensor device includes processing circuitry communicatively coupled to the sensing circuitry to process the generated sensor signal to determine whether the contact input associated with the fingerprint belongs to a live finger.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and techniques are provided for integrating a touch screen with a fingerprint detection module as an assembly for a mobile device. The integrated touch screen/fingerprint sensor assembly includes at least two glass layers bonded together to provide overall mechanical strength for the touch screen display. The upper glass layer is a toughened/hardened cover glass that does not have an opening for fitting the fingerprint detection module through this glass layer. The lower glass layer is a support glass layer underneath the hardened cover glass to provide additional mechanical strength and to include an opening at a location close to an end of the support glass layer. The integrated touch screen/fingerprint sensor assembly also includes a fingerprint detection module positioned within the opening of the support glass layer and directly underneath the hardened cover glass.

Abstract: A device is provided to include a display panel and an optical sensor module. The optical fingerprint sensor can detect an contact input and generate a signal indicative of an image of the fingerprint and to generate a signal indicative of a biometric marker different form the fingerprint. The generated sensor signal includes the signal indicative of the image of the fingerprint and the signal indicative of the biometric marker different from the fingerprint. The optical sensor module can capture different fingerprint patterns at different times to monitor time-domain evolution of the fingerprint ridge pattern deformation that indicates time-domain evolution of a press force from the contact input. The sensing circuitry can process the generated sensor signal to determine whether the contact input associated with the fingerprint belongs to a finger of a live person.

Abstract: A security check system using face ID sensing for secure access to an electronic platform includes a light source, a camera disposed adjacent the light source and configured to form an image of the object while a light beam provided by the light source is incident on the object, a computer memory configured to store face ID data of an authorized person, and a processing module configured to analyze the image to extract facial signatures and to determine whether there exists an indication of a retro-reflection, compare the facial signatures to the face ID data to determine whether a match exists, in response to determining that the match exists and the indication of the retro-reflection exists, grant access to the electronic platform, and in response to determining that the match does not exist or the indication of the retro-reflection does not exist, deny access to the electronic platform.

Abstract: Optical sensing is provided to detect two-dimensional spoof objects using bright-dark reversal imaging. For example, embodiments can operate in context of an under-display optical fingerprint sensor integrated into an electronic device, such as a smartphone. An optical scanning system is configured so that direct illumination incident on a defined sensing region is redirected, by internal specular reflection off of a contact surface, onto an optical sensor in a bright-dark pattern corresponding to the pattern of contact an object and the contact surface. Masking of direct illumination in a certain region of the contact surface inhibits specular reflection in that region, such that optical information is directed to the optical sensor from that region only by non-specular reflection. Three-dimensional (real) and two-dimensional (spoof) objects tend to manifest different optical responses to the lack of specular reflection in the masked region, which can be exploited to detect such spoofs.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a display screen, which includes a cover glass, a transparent layer disposed under the cover glass disposed under the cover glass, and a display illumination layer disposed under the transparent layer. The electronic device further includes an optical ID sensing module disposed under the display illumination layer and configured to form an image of a fingerprint pattern or a palmprint pattern of a hand of a user. The electronic device further includes a light source disposed at an edge side of the transparent layer, and is configured to emit a light beam to be coupled into the transparent layer through the edge side. A portion of the light beam may be transmitted through the cover glass to illuminate the hand for imaging of fingerprint pattern or the palmprint pattern by the optical ID sensing module.

Abstract: The disclosed optical sensing technology can be implemented to provide optical fingerprint sensing while a user finger is located near a device while not in contact with the device for user authentication in accessing the device and can further provide optical fingerprint sensing while a user finger is in contact with the device. In some implementations, the optical fingerprint sensing can be performed on a finger in contact and non-contact instances to enhance the fingerprint sensing and to provide anti-spoofing in the optical sensing. For example, multiple fingerprint images can be captured when a finger is located near a device while not in contact with the device and when the finger is in contact with the device. The captured fingerprint images of the non-contact finger and the captured fingerprint images of the contact finger provide two different types of optical fingerprint sensing mechanisms and can collectively enhance the fingerprint sensing performance and anti-spoofing feature.
