Abstract: A resin board that consists of at least one of a mixture of a plurality of types of resins having different degrees of susceptibility to erosion by an ozone solution, and a resin having, in a molecule, a plurality of types of components having different degrees of susceptibility to erosion by the ozone solution is treated with ozone water to form a reformed layer, and a catalyst metal is adsorbed by the reformed layer so as to form a resin-metal composite layer, on which a plating process is performed. In the resin board, a component or components that is/are likely to be eroded on by the ozone solution dissolves into the ozone solution, and pores or clearances on the order of nanometers are formed between the component(s) and a component or components that is/are less likely to be eroded by the ozone solution. With the plating deposited in the pores or clearances, the adhesion strength is improved due to an anchoring effect. Thus, the adhesion strength of the plating film is improved even where the resin-metal composite layer has a thickness of 10 to 200 nm.

Abstract: An image capturing apparatus illuminates and captures an image of an object using reflected light therefrom, with simplified distance measurement. A plurality of light-emitting devices are mounted around an image sensor, and a light guide member guides the light of the light-emitting devices to an image capturing region for illumination. The image capturing apparatus having the closely disposed image capturing system and illumination system, further has a distance-measuring light-emitting device and an aperture on the distance-measuring light-emitting device and for generating an optical path having narrowed downside and broadened upside. Thus, diffused reflected light rays of distance-measuring light-emitting device can be selected, converged and output to one direction. It becomes possible to obtain sufficient irradiation amount even when using a power-saving light-emitting device of a small emission amount, and to miniaturize a distance sensor irradiating spot light, contributing to miniaturization of the image capturing apparatus.

Abstract: A fluroescene detecting device irradiates an object to be measured with a laser beam, receives fluroescene generated from the object and processes a fluorescence signal generated when receiving the fluroescene. The device includes a laser light source section outputting the laser beam for irradiating the object, a light receiving section outputting the fluorescene signal of the fluorescene generated by the irradiated object, a light source control section generates a modulatioon signal having a frequency in order to time-modulate an intensity of the laser beam, and a processing section that calculates a flurescene relaxation time of the fluorescene of the object based on the fluorescene relaxation time of the fluorescene of the object based on the fluorescene relaxation time of the fluorescene of the object based on the fluorescene signal output from the light receiving section. From the detection values acquired by the device including the phase information on the fluorescene, the intensity of the fluorescene is calculated.

Abstract: In a touch sensor, one ends of optical fibers are disposed at positions corresponding to respective pressure sensing points on a sensor sheet. The optical fibers in a bundled form are connected in a detection unit. The detection unit includes therein a camera that takes an image showing a change in luminance at the other ends of the optical fibers. A transmissive body is disposed to contain the other ends of the optical fibers and light sources. Upper and side faces of the transmissive body are covered with antireflection members. The transmissive body has substantially the same refractive index as the core of each optical fiber. A force applied to the sensor sheet is detected based on the change in luminance at the other ends of the optical fibers shown in the image taken by the camera.

Abstract: The invention provides a railway car with superior riding quality by improving the flexural rigidity of the car body structure while suppressing increase of body structure mass. A reinforcing plate 7 is attached to a roof construction 1 on the side facing an inner side of the car body at a longitudinal center portion of a railway car body structure 10 composed of a roof construction 1, a side construction 2, an underframe 3 and an end construction 4. The range in which the reinforcing plate 7 is adhered in the longitudinal direction of the railway car body structure 10 is between two body bolsters 6, and the range in which the plate 7 is adhered in the horizontal direction of the roof construction 1 is approximately half the length of the roof construction 1 in the horizontal direction. The thickness of the reinforcing plate 7 is increased gradually as the height of the roof construction 1 in the vertical direction increases. According to this arrangement, the deformation of the roof construction 1 at the longitudinal center portion of the railway car body structure 10, which is excessive without the present arrangement, is suppressed, and the flexural rigidity of the railway car body structure 10 is effectively improved. In other words, the bending vibration of the railway car body in the vertical direction can be suppressed, and a superior riding quality is provided.

Abstract: A printing head which outputs an output from a sensor device provided for monitoring various condition of a printing head as digital data, and a printing apparatus using the printing head. The output from the device for detecting condition of the printing head, e.g., information indicative of a substrate temperature, a resistance value of an electrothermal transducer, an ON resistance value of a power transistor which drives the electrothermal transducer and the like is digitized on the substrate, and outputted as digital information to the outside. Further, the digital information is outputted by utilizing a clock signal and a latch signal used for transferring print data to the printing head. This does not increase the number of wires and the area of the substrate.
