Abstract:
An apparatus for compressing and heating a material to be treated, i.e., fibrous materials of plants such as true grasses or the like, changing the quality of the material, and solidifying the same. The material to be treated is delivered by a rotatable screw into and through a quality-changing chamber. During the passage of the material through the quality-changing chamber, the material is heated by a heating device. During the passage of the material through the quality-changing chamber, the material has its tissues destroyed, is softened, is compacted, and is solidified due to the compression by the screw and the heating by the heating device. A sensor senses a load applied to a motor and/or the temperature of the material being treated within the quality-changing chamber. A control system responds to a signal or signals from the sensor to control the load and/or the temperature.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an automatic background brightness control device for color sorting apparatus having a plurality of sorting channels (Q1-Qn), each including a sensor (S1-Sn) to detect the amount of reflected and/or transmitted light from objects to be sorted and the amount of reflected and/or transmitted light from a background provided at the sorting channel. A scanner circuit (12, 14, 16) selects from the sorting channels one sorting channel of which the background brightness is to be controlled. A process control circuit (11) is provided to compare the output from the sensor against predetermined reference voltages and to produce a signal for controlling the background brightness only when the output from the sensor deviates from the reference voltages. A light control circuit (P1-Pn) controls the background brightness within the selected sorting channel according to the signal for controlling the background brightness.
Abstract:
A rice pearling machine with a humidifier in which a humidifying-pearling chamber consisting of a perforated wall debranning-pearling cylinder and a friction pearling roll and incorporating a humidifying arrangement is communicated with an airing-pearling chamber consisting of a perforated wall debranning-pearling cylinder and a friction pearling roll and incorporating an airing arrangement to form an integral pearling space. The humidifying-pearling chamber includes a rice hopper inlet and the airing-pearling chamber includes a rice outlet. The shaft on which the both friction pearling rolls are mounted is hollow to serve also as an air duct with air holes formed along its length, the duct being partitioned in the vicinity of the border between the two pearling chambers.
Abstract:
A roll type huller including a housing, a pair of hulling rolls parallelly spaced apart within the housing, a main shaft carrying one of the rolls and supported by the housing rotatably about a fixed axis, and a counter shaft carrying the other roll and supported near the free end of an arm mounted at the base by a pivot which is spaced from, and parallel with, the fixed axis, so that the counter shaft can move toward and away from the main shaft while maintaining the parallelism. The pivot is supported by the housing in a relative position opposite to the roll-carrying portion of the counter shaft. The location of the pivot may be inside the housing beneath the counter shaft or outside of the housing above the shaft or elsewhere provided the aforesaid relationship with the shaft is maintained.
Abstract:
An induction synchronous motor comprises: a unitary rotor having a first and a second rotor core; a first and a second stator mounted surroundingly facing the first and the second rotor core; a voltage phase shifting means for producing a first and a second phase differences; a static magnetic field around each of the first and second rotor cores; and a rotor magnetizing means having diodes for rectifying alternating voltages and for having the resultant direct current produce magnetic poles in the first and second rotor cores. The motor is caused to initiate its operation as an induction motor based on the first phase difference produced by the voltage phase shifting means, to have the first phase difference shifted to the second phase difference produced by the phase shifting means operated, and to have the first and second rotor cores produce the magnetic poles attracted by the rotating magnetic field produced by the first and second stators, resulting in the synchronous operation of the motor.
Abstract:
A vertical type grain-milling machine has a perforated bran removing cylinder arranged vertically with respect to a machine frame; a main shaft which is rotatably provided within the perforated bran removing cylinder; and a milling roll and a screw roll which are in abutment with each other and which are mounted on the main shaft, the milling roll being associated with a grain discharging section and the screw roll being associated with a grain supplying section. The perforated bran removing cylinder is surrounded by an air in-take frame which has a large number of through-holes for causing in-flowing air to have a downward component of orientation. The discharging of the bran externally of the machine is enhanced and the adherence of bran onto the inner wall of the air in-take frame and the perforated bran removing cylinder is prevented.
Abstract:
An apparatus for evaluating the grade of rice grains includes a grain supply unit, vibrating troughs on which the rice grains run in their longitudinal posture, flow-down troughs having slits each opening to each of the flow-down troughs, a reflected light measuring unit having its light sources and its detecting element for detecting the amount of the light reflected from said rice grains, a transmitted light measuring unit having its light sources and its detecting element for detecting the amount of the light transmitted through the rice grains at the positions of said slits, and a calculation control unit for digitally calculating the values measured at the reflected light measuring unit and the transmitted light measuring unit for evaluating the rice grains into a plurality of grades. The light sources for reflection may be of visible light and the light source for transmission may be of infrared light. Also, it is possible to use a single unit, namely, a reflected and transmitted light measuring unit, having a reflected light detecting element and a transmitted light detecting element for measuring both the reflected light amount and the transmitted light amount from the rice grains at the same positions of the slits.
Abstract:
An induction motor, including a single rotor formed in one-piece and first and second stators disposed side by side, has a phase changing device for varying the phase difference between the rotational magnetic field generated by the first stator and that generated by the second stator. The phase changing device comprises at least first and second short-circuiting switches for short-circuiting or disconnecting the series-junction nodes of the stator windings. The first switching produces a configuration intermediate to series delta and parallel Y (Wye), and the second completes the transformation from delta to Y. The motor presents three different torque curves suitable for starting operation, intermediate speed operation and normal or steady-state operation by the switching operation of the first- and second-switches.
Abstract:
A wheat flouring system comprises a polishing machine for polishing wheat grains, a humidifying machine for humidifying the grains, a conditioning machine for subjecting the grains to conditioning and a milling machine for milling the grains to produce a flour. The polishing machine, the humidifying machine, the conditioning machine and the milling machine are successively arranged from an upstream side to a downstream side as viewed in a direction of flow of the wheat grains. There is provided an agitating machine for agitating the grains humidified by the humidifying machine, thereby preventing the humidified grains from sticking together into lumps of the grains.
Abstract:
Provided are a method and an apparatus for humidifying rice grains. Rice grains immediately after polishing and, hence, still maintained at an elevated temperature are supplied with water. The rice grains are further humidified under application of a pressure. This two-staged humidification remarkably shortens the time required for the humidification of rice grains after polishing.
