An inner layer rope has a plurality of inner layer strands, in which a plurality of steel wires are twisted together, with an elevator rope for suspending a car of an elevator apparatus. An inner layer cladding made of a resin covers a periphery of the inner layer rope. An outer layer is formed on a peripheral portion of the inner layer cladding. The outer layer has a plurality of outer layer strands in which a plurality of steel wires are twisted together. An outer layer cladding made of a high-friction resin material covers the periphery of the outer layer.
Abstract:
A method for producing a cable or cable element from individual elements is provided. The method comprises heating the individual elements before or during a stranding process until they are at least close to plastification and cooling the individual elements to a solidification temperature of a plastic. A cable or cable element comprising individual elements that are twisted together to form the cable is also disclosed. The individual elements are heated either before or during a stranding process until they are at least close to plastification, and are subsequently cooled to a solidification temperature of the plastic until they leave a stranding machine. A stranding device for the production of a cable or cable element from individual elements is also disclosed. The stranding device comprises a heating device which acts on the individual elements and a cooling device located downstream of the heating device in a direction of processing.

A PC strand is coated with rust inhibitive material of thermoplastic resin so as to wholly close spaces left around a core and peripheral wires twisted around the core, thus preventing the core and wires from rusting. The strand coated with the rust inhibitive material can be produced without being untwisted by use of an extruding machine having an auxiliary pressure head connected to a cross head.

A composite abrasive filament, including at least one preformed core at least partially coated with a hardened, abrasive-filled thermoplastic elastomer, exhibits increased abrading life over previously known abrasive filaments. Also disclosed are methods of making such filaments and using such filaments in article form to abrade a variety of workpieces.

The invention provides a rope having a central strand and a plurality of outer strands extending helically about the central strand. Each of the outer strands consists of a plurality of elements in a helical wrap, at least some of these elements having a core of synthetic plastic filaments extending generally in parallel with one another and a sheath about the core containing the filaments. The invention also provides a method of making the rope.
Abstract:
A high-strength parallel yarn rope comprises a series of multifilament rope yarns which are bounded together in parallel relation along their lengths by a binder distributed only on the surfaces of the yarns to form a flexible rope core. The core is surrounded by a braided jacket, and a flexible layer of waterimpervious material adhesively and mechanically bonds the core to the jacket. A method is also disclosed for manufacturing the rope.

A flexible pumping strand is formed from a plurality of steel wires stranded or held together within an abrasion resistant flexible outer plastic jacket perforated at intervals along its length, each of the plurality of steel wires being coated with an imperforate corrosion resistant plastic bonded to the surface of the wire. A method of forming the flexible pumping strand and the perforations in the outer coating of the strand involving the use of steam induced perforation during extrusion of the plastic jacket over the strand is also disclosed.
