Abstract:
A thermoplastic molding composition containing polycarbonate, polyalkylene terephthalate and an elastomeric impact modifier is disclosed. The impact modifier that exhibits pH value of less than 7 and contains less than 500 ppm of sodium ions, is characterized in its core/shell morphology, where the core contains polymerized butadiene structural units and shell contains polymerized methacrylate structural units. The core is present in an amount of 40 to 70 percent relative to the weight of the impact modifier, and the glass transition temperature of the shell is greater than 23° C. The composition is characterized in its improved surface quality and toughness at low temperatures.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic molding composition suitable for the preparation of articles having low birefringence is disclosed. Accordingly, the composition contains polycarbonate and a polyester copolymer based on cyclohexane-dimethanol, ethylene glycol and phthalic acid. The invention resides in the findings that the incorporation of a polycarbonate resin having a melt flow index greater than 18 g/10 minutes impart to the composition low birefringence values. The composition is suitable for the preparation of optical storage media, including compact discs.
Abstract:
An improved thermoplastic molding composition containing polycarbonate and a polyester copolymer based on cyclohexane-dimethanol, ethylene glycol and phthalic acid is disclosed. Improved resistance to gamma-radiation results from the incorporation of a siloxane compound which contains an oxirane group.
Abstract:
Thermoplastic molding compositions containing(i) polybutylene terephthalate(ii) a first aromatic polycarbonate resin, and(iii) a second aromatic polycarbonate resinare disclosed. A high level of Total Light Transmission (herein TLT) is a key characteristic of the compositions of the invention. Preferably, the TLT values of the compositions are higher than those of compositions which contain only said (i) and either (ii) or (iii). Most preferably, the TLT values of the compositions are higher than 80%.
Abstract:
An adaptive user interface device capable of implementing multiple modes of input and configuration may adapt to current user inputs, and may include configuration changes. In an aspect, an adaptive user interface device may be configured for a finger sensing in a touchpad mode, and configured for stylus sensing in a digital tablet mode. In another aspect, surface features of the adaptive user interface device may change shape, such as by raising buttons in response to entering a keyboard or keypad mode. Various mechanisms may be used for raising buttons, and may enable presenting buttons in a variety of shapes and locations on the interface. The configuration of the adaptive user interface device may depend upon the user actions and user identity. Configuration modes may be organized according to many levels enabling a single user interface to support a large number of input options functionality within a limited surface area.

Abstract:
A method of providing a mobile wallet is disclosed and may include displaying a mobile wallet login screen and displaying a mobile wallet. The mobile wallet includes at least one of the following: an accounts option, a buy now option, an offers option, a receipts option, and a more option. The method further includes displaying one or more accounts when the accounts option is selected. The one or more accounts may include at least one of the following: a bank account, a credit account, a gift card account, and a rewards account.
Abstract:
The impact strength of a thermoplastic molding composition containing aromatic polycarbonate resin and thermoplastic polyester is improved upon the incorporation therewith of a particular silicone rubber powder. The silicone rubber powder, added at a level of about 3 to 25 contains a mixture of (a) a polydiorganosiloxane and (b) finely divided silica filler.
Abstract:
Thermoplastic molding compositions are disclosed containing (i) about 1 to 89% polyethylene terephthalate (ii) about 10 to 89% of a first aromatic polycarbonate (PC1) and (iii) about 1-89% of the second aromatic polycarbonate (PC2). PC2 is a copolycarbonate which contains about 5 to 70 mole percent of structural units derived from a dihydroxy compound the bridging unit of which corresponds to ##STR1## wherein R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 X and m are defined. A composition of the invention is characterized in a TLT value which is an improvement over that of the corresponding composition which contains the same amount of PET and only PC1. An additional embodiment of the invention concerns a method for increasing the TLT of a thermoplastic molding composition containing PET and PC1. The method comprises replacing some of said PC1 by PC2.
