Abstract: A vehicular driver monitoring system includes an interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly and a camera disposed at the interior prismatic rearview mirror assembly behind and viewing through a prismatic mirror reflective element into the interior cabin of the vehicle. Supplemental sources of near infrared illumination are disposed at the mirror assembly that are operable to emit near infrared light to illuminate at least the driver-side front seating area within the interior cabin of the vehicle. Presence of the camera behind the prismatic mirror reflective element is not readily apparent to an occupant of the vehicle. The camera at least (a) views the driver-side front seating area of the vehicle and (b) views a passenger-side front seating area of the vehicle. The driver of the equipped vehicle is monitored via processing at the processor of image data captured by the camera.

Abstract: A vehicular parking assist system includes a plurality of sensors disposed at a vehicle and sensing exterior of the vehicle. The vehicular parking assist system, via processing of captured sensor data, and while the vehicle is conducting a parking maneuver, detects an object and tracks location of the detected object relative to the vehicle until the detected object leaves a field of sensing of the at least one sensor of the plurality of sensors. The system, after the detected object leaves the field of sensing of the at least one sensor, predicts location of the detected object relative to the vehicle. The system, upon completion of the parking maneuver, determines that the detected object is hazardous based on the predicted location of the detected object relative to the vehicle, and responsive to determining that the detected object is hazardous, restricts opening of a door of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing forward of the vehicle. Image data captured by the camera is processed at an electronic control unit (ECU) for at least two driving assist systems of the vehicle. Image data captured by the camera is saved in volatile memory of the ECU. Responsive to occurrence of at least one emergency event, image data that is saved in volatile memory of the ECU for a first period of time prior to the occurrence of the at least one emergency event is moved to non-volatile memory of the ECU and image data captured by the imaging array of the camera for a second period of time after occurrence of the at least one emergency event is saved in the non-volatile memory. The at least one emergency event includes a deceleration of the equipped vehicle of 0.4 g or more.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera, a near-infrared light emitter operable to illuminate at least part of a region viewed by the camera, and an electronic control unit having an image processor. While the camera is capturing frames of image data at a first rate, the near-infrared light emitter is pulsed on/off at a second rate. The first rate is at least two times the second rate. First frames of image data are captured by the camera when the region is illuminated by light emitted by the near-infrared light emitter. The captured first frames of image data are processed at the ECU for a first vehicle function. Second frames of image data are captured by the camera when the region is not illuminated by light emitted by the near-infrared light emitter. The captured second frames of image data are processed at the ECU for a second vehicle function.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a sensor disposed at a vehicle and having a field of sensing exterior of the vehicle. The sensor captures sensor data. Electronic circuitry of an electronic control unit (ECU) includes a processor for processing sensor data captured by the sensor. Responsive to the vehicle being parked, captured sensor data is processed at the ECU to determine a topography of the environment at the parked vehicle. The ECU, responsive to determining the topography at the parked vehicle determines presence of a hazard of the topography. The ECU, responsive to determining presence of the hazard, notifies an occupant of the vehicle of the hazard prior to the occupant exiting the parked vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and capturing image data. The system, via processing at an electronic control unit (ECU) of image data captured by the camera, detects an object at a first orientation relative to camera. A first local binary pattern represents in binary form a first portion of the image data that includes the detected object. The system detects the object at a second orientation relative to camera. A second local binary pattern represents in binary form a second portion of the image data that includes the detected object. The second orientation is different from the first orientation and the second local binary pattern is different than the first local binary pattern. The system groups the first and second local binary patterns into a common histogram bin. The system classifies the detected object based at least in part on the common histogram bin.

Abstract: A vehicular driver assist system includes a sensor disposed at a vehicle and a display disposed at the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. An electronic control unit (ECU) includes a processor for processing sensor data captured by the sensor to detect presence of objects in the field of view of the sensor. The vehicular driver assist system, responsive to processing by the processor of sensor data captured by the sensor, determines presence of a driver of the vehicle and determines a position of the driver's head. The vehicular driver assist system, responsive to determining the position of the driver's head, adjusts an orientation of the display based on the determined position of the driver's head to increase visibility of the display for the driver.

Abstract: A driving assistance system includes a front camera module (FCM). The system, responsive to processing captured image data from the FCM, generates FCM control signals. The system includes a plurality of vehicle sensors capturing sensor data and an advanced driving-assistance system (ADAS) controller. The ADAS controller, responsive to processing the sensor data, generates ADAS control signals. The ADAS controller generates an ADAS status signal indicating a reliability of the generated ADAS control signals. With the ADAS status signal indicating the reliability of the generated ADAS control signals is at or above a threshold ADAS reliability level, the system controls the vehicle using the ADAS control signal and, responsive to determining that the ADAS status signal indicates that the reliability of the generated ADAS control signals is below the threshold, switches from controlling the vehicle based on the ADAS control signals to controlling the vehicle based on the FCM control signals.
