    Abstract: Valve seat inserts of a four-cycle internal-combustion engine are cooled by the lubricating oil of the oil circulating system. An oil duct extending in the camshaft housing is bored in such a manner that the lubricating oil flows from the oil duct into a ring duct surrounding the valve seat inserts. By means of a projection which closes off the ring duct, a forced flow around the valve seat insert is achieved before the lubricating oil flows out of the ring duct through an opening located close to the lubricating oil inlet. From the ring duct the lubricating oil flows through a discharge pipe to the camshaft where it is sprayed on the cams.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of water-soluble polymers containing polyalkylene glycol ether side chains and having molecular weights of from 15,000 to 65,000 by solution polymerization of esters of ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids and polyalkylene glycols which are masked on the end groups at one end, if desired together with another monomer in at least one hydrocarbon at monomer concentrations of from 70 to 95% by weight in the presence of free-radical-forming polymerization initiators and, if desired, polymerization regulators at temperatures of up to 200° C., removal of the solvent used in the solution polymerization, and dissolution of the polymers in water to give from 50 to 80% strength by weight solutions, with polymers containing acid groups being neutralized if desired.

    Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing D,L-aspartic acid by beating aqueous solutions of ammonium salts of the maleic acid. The molar ratio of maleic acid to ammonia ranges from 1:1 to 1:50. The process is carried out at temperatures from 60.degree. to 250.degree. C. and pressures of at least 1 bar. The pressure applied during the reaction is adjusted to ensure that the reaction mixture is almost completely present in liquid phase. Excess ammonia is removed and the reaction solution is acidified so as to release D,L-aspartic acid, which is then isolated.
