Abstract:
This disclosure pertains to a novel trim ring for automotive wheels which is formed in one piece from a single blank of material utilizing the normally-scrapped center portion thereof, and which further incorporates improved locating and retention means. Also disclosed is a novel method of fabricating a trim ring.
Abstract:
Electrical resistance welding apparatus suitable for securing an insertable spider in the annular rim of a wheel includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart opposed electrodes each for forming a seam weld made up of a series of overlapping welds. Each electrode set includes an inner and outer wheel type welder head. The inner head includes a conductive shaft having a conductive sleeve rotatably mounted thereon. The sleeve carries the inner wheel electrode and is also tiltably mounted on the shaft so that weld pressure upon the inner wheel electrode tilts the sleeve against the shaft. Thereby, the weld pressure maintains good electrical contact between the shaft and sleeve, even as the sleeve rotates, to prevent arcing therebetween.
Abstract:
A pressure gage has a charging inlet positioned in the center of the dial of the gage, in addition, the closure for the charging inlet is used for releasably making the pressure gage watertight.
Abstract:
A component for automatic sprinkler systems employed for fire protection is provided which is useful in dry-pipe systems to cause rapid opening of the dry-pipe valve of such systems in response to a slight but rapid decrease of air pressure in the sprinkler piping network attendant upon opening of a sprinkler head. Slow decreases in such pressure in relation to atmospheric pressure are offset by an atmospheric bleed valve, a readily accessible adjustment for altering and visibly indicating the trip-off pressure is provided, and provision is made for either electrical or pneumatic operation.
Abstract:
The invention is illustrated as a two-stage holdback device in a container-missile combination, the device consisting of missile and container supported rotatable members having complemental tongue-and-groove portions held connected against lengthwise movement by shear means. The tongue-and-groove connection is disposed normally at right angles to the missile axis to provide resistance to shear forces of a high order and is disposed lengthwise of the container to yield to shear forces developing when the missile is fired. Operating means for rotating the members are also disclosed.
Abstract:
An electric cooktop has a plurality of heating elements installed therein and may be lifted as a unit to provide access to reflectors and spillover bowls positioned unattachedly on a support surface below, thereby enabling ready removal of the bowls and reflectors for cleaning, without removing the heating elements.
Abstract:
A two-piece adjusting ring for use with a standard electrical floor box which latter includes a threaded handhole in the top, the adjusting ring including a threaded section or collar rotatable with respect to the box to couple them together at the situs of the installation of the box, and a separate flange adapted to overlie a floor surface or covering closely adjacent the collar and adapted to remain rotationally stationary while the collar is being advanced, the collar and flange being provided with mutually engaging smooth surfaces whereby the collar imparts a thrust upon the flange without rotating the latter.
