    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a composite material, a method of making and using the composite material and dental products made by hardening the composite material. The composite material includes a polymerizable component, ceramic fibers and nanoclusters. Each of the ceramic fibers of the composite material has a length and where the length of fifty percent of the ceramic fibers, based on a total number of the ceramic fibers, is at least 50 micrometers and the length of ninety percent of the ceramic fibers, based on the total number of the ceramic fibers, is no greater than 500 micrometers. The composite material can also include discrete non-fumed metal oxide nanoparticles. The composite material can be hardened to become any one of a dental restorative, a dental adhesive, a dental mill blank, a dental cement, a dental prostheses, an orthodontic device, an orthodontic adhesive, a dental casting material or a dental coating.

    Abstract: The present application is directed to a dental material and a method of using the dental material. The dental material can include a hardenable resin; an initiator system; a filler; and from about 1 wt % to about 20 wt % zinc compound, based on the weight of the hardenable resin. The contrast ratio of the cured dental material increases by at least about 10 units after continuous exposure to an aqueous solution for 21 days.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are curable glass ionomer compositions that include a first paste and a second paste, and methods for using the disclosed compositions. The first paste includes water, a polyacid, and a non acid-reactive filler. The second paste includes water and an acid-reactive filler. At least one of the first paste and the second paste further includes substantially crystalline inorganic fibers. In some embodiments, the water content of the first paste and the second paste of the paste/paste GI composition disclosed herein is less than 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides an inorganic dental filler including a surface treated with at least one silane. Exemplary silanes described in the present disclosure for the surface treatment of the inorganic filler include silanes of Formula I and/or Formula II: (RSi)—(CR1R2)n—(NH—C(O)—O—CH2—CH2)q—N(R5)—C(O)—NH—(CH2—CH2—O)t—CR3R4—CH2-(A) Formula I (RSi)—(CR1R2)n—NH—C(O)—O—CR3R4-(L)q-CH2-(A) Formula II, wherein: RSi is a silane-containing group of the formula —Si(Yp)(R6)3-p, wherein Y is a hydrolysable group, R6 is a monovalent alkyl or aryl group, and p is 1, 2, or 3.
