Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are presented to facilitate coexistence between multiple wireless communication protocols implemented by a wireless communication device, using a shared frequency range. A first protocol of the wireless communication protocols may be a comb protocol, characterized by a superframe signal format that includes communication periods separated by non-communication periods within the superframe. Specifically, the wireless communication device may communicate according to a second protocol during the non-communication periods of the superframe. The communication periods of the superframe may be sufficiently short to allow a radio implementing the second protocol may remain in an active state during the communication periods, e.g., without entering a sleep mode or notifying remote devices of any interruption of the second protocol.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes an electronic device configured to concurrently transmit wake-up radio (WUR) packets in a duplicated WUR transmission mode, non-duplicated WUR transmission mode, and/or mixed WUR transmission mode in one or more channels of a wideband basic service set (BSS) communication. Receiving electronic devices may be grouped together and assigned to monitor for the WUR packets. For example, the receiving electronic devices may be assigned to a position within the one or more channels to monitor for the WUR packets.

Abstract: An access point may receive, from a set of electronic devices, one or more buffer status reports that indicate that at least a subset of the electronic devices have uplink data associated with one or more access categories. In response, the access point may create a group of uplink virtual queues for one or more electronic devices in the subset based on the one or more buffer status reports, where a given uplink virtual queue corresponds to a particular access category and a given electronic device. The access point may start one or more backoff counters with a one-to-one correspondence to uplink virtual queues in the group of uplink virtual queues. When a backoff counter for the given uplink virtual queue reaches zero, the access point may transmit a trigger frame to an electronic device in the subset that corresponds to the given uplink virtual queue.

Abstract: During operation, an interface circuit in an electronic device may receive, from a second electronic device (such as an access point in a WLAN), an uplink trigger frame that may specify an access category. In response to the uplink trigger frame, the electronic device may first include data associated with the specified access category in one or more frames, and then may transmit the one or more frames to the second electronic device. Moreover, when all the data associated with the specified access category has been transmitted or when there is no data associated with the specified access category, and when there is leftover time in an allocation associated with the uplink trigger frame, the interface circuit may transmit the one or more frames to the second electronic device with additional data associated with another access category that is different from the specified access category.

Abstract: In one set of embodiments, one or more client stations operate to configure Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN)—direct communication with neighboring client stations, i.e., direct communication between the client stations without utilizing an intermediate access point. Embodiments of the disclosure relate to NAN datapath scheduling and NAN pre-datapath operation setup and scheduling. The NAN datapath embodiments described herein provide a mechanism through which devices can communicate and provide services. Aspects of the datapath development include datapath scheduling, including datapath setup and scheduling attributes, as well as pre-datapath operation triggering and scheduling. Scheduling may include determination of a type of datapath, including paging and synchronized datapaths. NAN data cluster base schedules may be scheduled as equal-sets or subsets of datapath schedules. The datapath model may be implemented for unicast and multicast communication between client stations.

Abstract: Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for a first wireless device to select a channel to a second wireless device among a set of channels to the second wireless device shared by a set of wireless devices of the wireless network, and further transmit data to the second wireless device over the selected channel. The first wireless device can perform a measurement to determine a channel occupancy during a measurement period for a channel, wherein the measurement period includes a plurality of periodic transmission durations. The first wireless device can select a channel that is less occupied indicated by the channel occupancy of the channel. The first wireless device can further transmit data to the second wireless device over the selected channel in a transmission period after the measurement period.

Abstract: A wireless local area network (WLAN) station (STA) reports, with a medium access control (MAC) frame, a buffer status of an urgent traffic identifier (TID) to a second STA. In some embodiments, the second STA is also an access point (AP). The delay in reporting is reduced by providing a buffer status report for the urgent TID in a data frame being transmitted to carry data for a current TID. The buffer status report, in some embodiments, provides the value of the urgent TID. In some embodiments, the buffer status report provides an indication of the amount of data in a buffer corresponding to the urgent TID. In some embodiments, the buffer status report is based on an aggregated measure of more than one buffer with data awaiting transmission. The transmission of the MAC frame, in some embodiments, is unsolicited.

Abstract: A recipient electronic device that provides an acknowledgment is described. This recipient electronic device may include a main radio and a wake-up radio (WUR) that at least selectively transitions the main radio from a lower-power mode to a higher-power mode in response to a wake-up frame. During operation, the WUR receives a wake-up frame associated with an electronic device, e.g., a second or a sending device. Then, the WUR provides, in response to the wake-up frame, the acknowledgement intended for the electronic device. The wake-up frame may specify that an acknowledgement from the recipient electronic device to the electronic device is expected. For example, the wake-up frame may specify that the acknowledgement is communicated by the recipient electronic device using the WUR in the recipient electronic device. Moreover, the WUR may provide the acknowledgment while the main radio is in the lower-power mode.
