Abstract:
A umbrella (1) includes a shank (20); a canopy support assembly (51) extending outwardly in a radial direction from a top of the shank (20); a canopy (70) secured in covering relation on the canopy support assembly (51); an illumination device (30) disposed in the shank (20); an upper runner (50) fixedly disposed on the top of the shank (20); a lower runner (40) slidably disposed on the shank (20); and a handle (10) fixedly disposed on a bottom of the shank (20). The shank (20) is hollow and is made of translucent FRP. The illumination device (30) includes a plurality of illumination members (32) spaced along the hollow of the shank (20), an exposed switch (33), and a power source (34).
Abstract:
Disclosed is a hinge coupling comprising a first connective section comprising a hollow first cylinder at one end with a first piece fastened therein, two parallel projections at the other end, each projection having a bent end, a bore in an intermediate portion open to the external, and a bar interconnected the bent ends, the bar being not aligned with rest of the first connective section, and a second connective section comprising an extension at one end, a hollow second cylinder substantially passed from one end to the other end, an intermediate recess, and a groove formed at bottom of the recess. The bar is fastened in the groove by snapping through the recess, a second piece is inserted into the second cylinder by passing over the bar, and the extension is inserted into the bore by counterclockwise pivoting about the bar. Both sections are parallel after folding.
Abstract:
Windproof umbrella and method of making same are disclosed. The method includes providing an integral, polygonal cloth having corners; forming substantially conic members each disposed on a joining end of one corner and another adjacent corner by shaping and stitching; providing a folding radial frame; securing a lower canopy having a central opening onto the frame; and securing the cloth onto the frame to form an upper canopy having sectors in covering relation to the central opening. The conic members are substantially flat in an inoperative state and are expanded to form a substantially conic shape in response to high winds. Each escape path for wind is thus formed between the sector of the upper canopy and an upper edge of the lower canopy. No cutting is involved in the method. Also, no creases and looseness in a central portion of the umbrella are formed.
Abstract:
Provided is an opening device mounted on a shank of automatic umbrella including a sliding sleeve having a lower extension and a slot on the extension. The device comprises an upper trigger mechanism lockingly engaged with the extension in a closed condition of the umbrella such that pressing the trigger mechanism will disengage the trigger mechanism from the extension prior to automatically opening the umbrella, and a lower, spring biased rib tip retaining mechanism put on the shank and disposed above the handle, the rib tip retaining mechanism adapted to contain tips of ribs therein in the closed condition of the umbrella. Thus, the tips of ribs are not tangled with foreign objects or other umbrellas when the umbrella is stored in, for example, an umbrella stand.

Abstract:
A folded umbrella frame has a plurality of units each comprising a second pivot mechanism, a first pivot mechanism fixed to the lower rib, a first pivot connecting member pivotably coupling to the first pivot mechanism, a second pivot connecting member receiving the upper rib and pivotably coupling to the second pivot mechanism and a steel rod hooking the second pivot connecting member and the first pivot mechanism together. The spreader passes through the channels of the second pivot mechanism to receive in the first bore of the first pivot connecting member. The invention effects a smooth folding by employing no rivet and a reduced size after folded.
Abstract:
A tri-folded umbrella is disclosed. An enhanced frame of the umbrella comprises pivotably coupled first, second, and third yoke-shaped pivot members formed of plastic, first, second, and third latches, first, second, third ribs, first and second links, and a stretcher. The invention enables an easy assembly and a more compact size after folding.
