Abstract: A winch is described comprising a rotatable drum for winding and unwinding a first cable therefrom. The winch contains a cable-wiping apparatus with one or more actuators are activated when the drum rotates in a direction for winding the first cable onto the drum. A mechanical force may be transmitted from the actuator to a second cable that is operatively connected to a wiper clamp. The wiper clamp compresses around the first cable when the cable is pulled in.

Abstract: We disclose a medical toilet that includes at least one stethoscope probe in the toilet lid. The stethoscope probes may be mounted on a compliant extension which extends the stethoscope probes toward a user seated on the toilet. The medical toilet may include a device which adjusts the height of the stethoscope probes to adjust for different size users and to collect measurements from different parts of a user. The medical toilet may include a device which records the sounds collected by the stethoscope and may also include a controller that proposes a diagnosis based on the sounds collected by the stethoscope. The medical toilet may also transmit recordings and other information to an external machine.

Abstract: The health monitoring toilet system includes an extendable, retractable, and rotatable wand with sensors on the head section. The sensors may include a variety of cameras and gas sensors for inspecting a user's urogenital, perineal, and anal region for health assessment. The wand may comprise a bidet wand. The bidet wand may also dispense cleansing and therapeutic substances. The toilet system may include a controller which may store the sensor readings as well as protocols for moving the wand to acquire optimal sensor readings. The controller may be accessible by a healthcare provider for diagnostic and treatment purposes. The toilet system may identify each user to store sensor reading acquired for different users in the controller.

Abstract: A system and a method for a swivel winch are described for rotating a winch about an axis such that friction is reduced when letting out or pulling in a line. The swivel winch includes a fairlead with an orifice and sensors which sense the pressure from the cable and send the retrieved data to a controller which generates commands for an actuator, causing the swivel mount coupled to the winch to swivel in a direction that will relieve pressure.

Abstract: A housing for a digital assistant is disclosed. The housing includes; a body holding the digital assistant; attachments for an overhead mounting system. Within the housing there is at least one electrical input; and at least one electrical output; along with a digital current limiter. The digital assistant is capable of receiving and implementing instructions via voice commands or a personal control device. The digital current limiter receives instructions from the digital assistant and in response to those instructions, regulates the current to components in communication with the digital assistant. A method for using the housing and digital assistant to create a smart garage system by regulating access to connected components is also disclosed.

Abstract: The toilet bowl separately collects urine and feces for analysis or use in a composting device, waste digester, or to reclaim water. The toilet bowl includes a toilet bowl wall. Urine flows down the toilet bowl wall into a channel for collection. The channel surrounds an aperture into which feces may be deposited. Consequently, urine and feces are kept separate during collection. Both the channel and the aperture may be connected to conduits which may transmit material into analytical devices. The conduits may transmit material into digesters in appropriate amounts including controlling the amount of liquid added to solid material. Collected urine may be stored for water reclamation. Sensors may confirm the absence of fecal matter in collected urine or detect contamination. After separate analysis, feces and urine may be combined through connecting conduits then disposed of in the sewer system or sent to a composting device or waste digester.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are hub-based wireless networks employing end-devices at intermediate wireless at ranges of thousands of meters. End-devices may be such things as keypads, door latches, occupancy monitors, sprinkler controllers and other devices controlled or monitored in a campus or a collection of buildings. A device-initiated asynchronous mode may be used to communicate information related to spontaneous events to a hub. The hub receives packet retrial information from the end-devices, determines whether packet retrials are due to interference or some other cause such as collisions, and applies varying levels of redundancy based upon a recent history of success and failure of packet exchanges, which measurement may be a value of badness increased as errors are encountered and decreased as packet communication is successful. Detailed information on various example embodiments of the inventions are provided in the Detailed Description below, and the inventions are defined by the appended claims.

Abstract: Window blinds with automated mechanisms that require a power source often include a battery housing that is placed at least partially outside of the headrail. This is done to make room for mechanical devices that are required to be housed within the headrail. We disclose a battery housing which may be mounted within a headrail of a window blind. Consequently, the battery housing is not visible when the headrail is mounted. This creates a more aesthetically pleasing window treatment. The disclosed battery housing may include a base mounted on two elongated battery compartments. An elongated channel may separate the two elongated battery compartments. The elongated channel is designed to allow a tilt rod within the headrail to pass through.

Abstract: We disclose a method of tagging a variety of pharmaceutical or nutritional products in which well-studied chemicals may be added to the products in unique ratios. The identities of the chemicals and their relative ratios comprise unique taggants. The taggants may identify which of multiple distinct categories the product falls within. The method includes the step of systematically varying the relative concentrations of the chemicals resulting in multiple ratios of the chemicals. The plurality of ratios of a defined set of chemicals may be collected to form a library of taggants associated with specified items or categories. As the number of chemicals added per product increases, the library supports more categories and the system is less likely to produce a false positive. The method may result in a series of taggants for each item which is single fault tolerant or double fault tolerant.
