Abstract:
Devices with internal flexibility sipes, such as slits, provide improved flexibility, improved cushioning to absorb shock and/or shear forces, and improved stability of support. Siped devices can be used in any existing product that provides or utilizes cushioning and stability. These products include human and other footwear, both soles and uppers, as well as orthotics; athletic, occupational and medical equipment and apparel; padding or cushioning, such as for equipment or tool handles, as well as furniture; balls; tires; and any other structural or support elements in a mechanical, architectural, or any other product.

Abstract:
A computer system including a Web site and/or a cloud array of computers configured to have a connection to a smartphone or other mobile computer device and use the device and connection to control a configuration of one or more bladders, compartments, chambers and internal sipes located in a sole or removable inner sole insert of footwear. The computer system can also use the device and connection to transmit data to the computer system for storage and/or shared or independent processing and/or analysis, process data from sensors located in either one or both of the sole or the removable inner sole insert of the device user, in, on, or near a center of gravity of the device user, in the device and/or in, on, or near the head of the device user, and use the processed data to alter a configuration of the bladders, compartments, chambers and internal sipes.
Abstract:
This invention relates generally to footwear with a shoe sole, including at least one insertable midsole orthotic. The insertable midsole orthotic is removably inserted within the shoe upper, the sides of which hold it in position. The shoe sole includes a concavely rounded side or underneath portion, which may be formed in part by the insertable midsole orthotic. The insertable midsole orthotic may extend the length of the shoe sole or may form only a part of the shoe sole and can incorporate cushioning or structural compartments or components. The insertable midsole orthotic permits replacement of midsole material which has degraded or has worn out in order to maintain optimal characteristics of the shoe sole and allows customization for the individual wearer to provide tailored cushioning or support characteristics for the purpose of orthopedic, podiatric, corrective, prescriptive, therapeutic and/or prosthetic purposes.
Abstract:
A smartphone or other mobile computer device, general purpose or specialized, wherein the smartphone device is configured to actively control the configuration of one or more bladders, compartments, chambers or internal sipes and one or more sensors located in either one or both of a sole or a removable inner sole insert of the footwear of the user and/or located in an apparatus worn or carried by the user, glued unto the user, or implanted in the user. The one or more bladders, compartments, chambers, or sipes, and one or more sensors are configured for computer control. A sole and/or a removable inner sole insert for footwear, including one or more bladders, compartments, chambers, internal sipes and sensors in the sole and/or in a removable insert; or on an insole; all being configured for control by a smartphone or other mobile computer device, general purpose or specialized.
Abstract:
A smartphone or other mobile computer app that causes a smartphone or another mobile computer device to actively control a configuration of footwear structural elements located in both footwear of a device user. Sensors are located in both footwear soles and in the device of the user. The footwear structural elements are configured for computer control by the device. Instructions of the app cause the device to: first, control the footwear structural elements by establishing a first configuration of the footwear structural elements for a first device user locomotion test; second, control the footwear structural elements by establishing a second, different configuration of the footwear structural elements; third, process sensor measurement data from the first and second tests; fourth, compare the test data with a preferred data set; fifth, select and establish a configuration of the footwear structural elements from the test data closest to matching the preferred data set.
Abstract:
A computer or microchip including a master controlling device, network communication components, one or more microprocessors and RAM, an internal hardware firewall located between a protected portion that is protected by the internal hardware firewall and a network portion. The internal hardware firewall denies access to at least the protected portion of the computer or microchip from the network. The firewall permits unrestricted access by the network to the network portion so that processing operations other than network communications and firewall operations conducted with the network are executed by microprocessors and RAM in the network portion. The master controlling device has preemptive control of the microprocessors and RAM in the network portion including erasure of at least a part of the random access memory (RAM) prior to the use of the network portion of the computer or microchip by the user or the operating system.
Abstract:
A computer or microchip including a system BIOS located in flash memory which is located in a portion of the computer or microchip protected by an inner hardware-based access barrier or firewall, a central controller of the computer or microchip having a connection by a secure control bus with other parts of the computer or microchip, and a volatile random access memory located in a portion of the computer or microchip that has a connection for a network. The secure control bus is isolated from input from the network, and provides and ensures direct preemptive control by the central controller over the volatile random access memory, the control including transmission to or erasure of data and/or code in the volatile random access memory and control of a connection between the central controller, the volatile random access memory and at least one microprocessor having a connection for the network.
