The core has a diameter of about 1.20 to about 1.56 in. and a PGA compression of about 40 to about 90. The intermediate layer comprises a modified ionomeric polymer, and it has a thickness of about 0.01 to about 0.10 in. and a Shore D hardness of about 30 to about 70. The cover layer has a Shore D hardness of about 40 to about 75. The multi-layer golf balls of the present invention provide high driver ball speed and/or a high Coefficient of Restitution, while maintaining excellent shot feel.

Abstract:
A method for generating a block-based image histogram from data compressed by JPEG, MPEG-1, and MPEG-2, or uncompressed image data employing block-based linear quantization to generate histograms that include color, brightness, and edge components. The edge histogram, in particular, includes the global edge features, semi-global edge features, and local edge features. The global edge histogram is based on image blocks of the entire image space. The local edge histogram is based on a group of edge blocks. The semi-global edge histogram is based on the horizontally and the vertically grouped image blocks. A method for generating block-based image histogram with color information and brightness information of image data in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention extracts feature information of an image in terms of the block and updates global histogram bins on the basis of the feature information. The method for generating block-based image histogram with color information and brightness information of image data minimizes quantization error by employing linear weight and updates values of histogram bins. The error that occurs at a boundary between bins of the histograms and the linear weight depends on the distance between the histogram bins.
Abstract:
A golf ball has a thin intermediate layer, within specified thickness and hardness, situated between a ball core and cover layer. The thin intermediate layer provides for a ball having superior ball spin performance without loss of ball speed. Particular compositions for the intermediate layer, along with methods for spray-coating of a ball core and grinding down of a thick intermediate layer that are particularly suited for making this thin intermediate layer, also are disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a preparation method of aromatic organosulfur functionalized 1,4-cis polybutadiene comprising: polymerizing 1,3-butadiene or butadiene derivative in the presence of a specific catalyst in a nonpolar solvent to prepare 1,4-cis polybutadiene; and reacting the resultant polybutadiene with an aromatic organosulfur compound. Such prepared aromatic organosulfur functionalized 1,4-cis polybutadiene is without ultrahigh molecular weight region and, thus, has narrow molecular weight distribution.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for treating boil-off gas generated in an LNG storage tank of an LNG carrier for transporting LNG in a cryogenic liquid state, the LNG carrier having a boil-off gas reliquefaction plant, wherein an amount of boil-off gas corresponding to a treatment capacity of the reliquefaction plant among the total amount of boil-off gas generated during the voyage of the LNG carrier is discharged from the LNG storage tank and reliquefied by the reliquefaction plant. The boil-off gas treating method and apparatus can maintain an amount of boil-off gas discharged from an LNG storage tank at a constant level by storing in the LNG storage tank, instead of discharging and burning, surplus boil-off gas which has not been returned to the LNG storage tank through the reliquefaction plant among the total amount of boil-off gas generated in the LNG storage tank, and can prevent waste of boil-off gas and save energy by allowing an internal pressure of the LNG storage tank to be increased.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a two-piece golf ball having a core and a cover, wherein the core comprises at least one unsaturated polymer, at least one cross-linking agent, at least one co-cross-linking agent, and at least one peptizer (comprising one or more organic sulfur compounds, or one or more metal or non-metal salts of an organic sulfur compound), and optionally at least one weight adjusting filler. The improved two-piece balls have optimal velocity and distance performance, as well as excellent shot feel, the called “long and soft” combination. The balls also demonstrate excellent durability properties, and ease of manufacture.
Abstract:
A golf ball incorporates nanofiller material in its core, cover, or intermediate layers. Also, a method includes a step of blending into a composition for a golf ball nanocomposite material, nanofiller material or both. The nanocomposite and/or nanofiller materials impart favorable properties to materials used for golf balls, and they provide for greater versatility in usage than materials previously used. Particular compositions incorporating nanocomposite material also are described as suited for use in golf ball compositions.
Abstract:
Golf balls and compositions for use in ball cores, covers and intermediate layers incorporate syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having crystallinity and other specified physical properties. Golf balls incorporating the compositions of the present invention provide flexibility in golf ball design to improve ball performance, such as hit feel and spin rate, without adversely affecting shear-cut resistance of the ball. Also, methods for making golf balls include preparing a composition comprising syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having crystallinity, and then incorporating the composition into a golf ball. The methods can include injection molding only, or injection and compression molding. When the composition being molded incorporates crosslinking agents, co-crosslinking agents, or crosslinking accelerators, preferred methods include inducing partial or total crosslinking of the composition at preferred steps of making the golf balls.
