Abstract:
Methods and apparatus employing membrane filtration in biodegradation processes for treatment of wastewater are described. A bioreactor system is described having an equalization system, a membrane bioreactor system, and a controller. Aeration systems for a membrane bioreactor, such as a mixer, and an ultrafilter subsystem are also described, as is a rotary membrane ultrafilter.
Abstract:
An apparatus is provided for separation of suspended solid particles from fluids, for separation and mixing of fluids, and for dissolving gases in aqueous fluids. The apparatus employs a grooved ring to divide the fluid stream and impart a high velocity on each of the divided or sub-streams. A grooved ring with any number of grooves that may be spiral in shape is used to create a high velocity circular motion on a divided stream for separation of suspended solid particles by centrifugal force in a cyclone filter and for saturation of liquid with gases in a fluid mixer where gases are introduced through a diffuser. A grooved ring with any number of grooves that may be radial is used in a fluid mixer to divide a stream of fluid, produce a high velocity flow through each groove, introduce a second fluid through an orifice into the first fluid flowing through each groove, and direct the fluid mixture to a center impact zone where the various streams collide to complete the mixing.

Abstract:
An improved filter apparatus including a securing mechanism to hold a flexible filter media such as a filter bag in position. The securing mechanism includes a receiving member having an internal bore adapted to receive a portion of the filter media. A retaining ring having an externally projecting contact ridge adapted to make essentially line contact around the inner periphery of the receiving member is utilized to secure the bag within the receiving member. The filter cloth may either be inserted between the securing ring and the inner surface of the receiving member, or a slightly larger securing ring may be utilized to seat on top of a conventional filter bag retaining ring to secure the ring and the bag in position.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an electronic fluid treatment device for use in circulating fluid systems for controlling and removal of scale materials. This device includes a series of electrodes in the form of parallel metal sheets. Alternate electrodes are oppositely charged by a low voltage DC power supply thereby generating an electric field between adjacent electrodes. By passing the fluid through this electric field, any mineral particles in the fluid are electrically modified thereby inhibiting crystal growth and agglomeration which results in scale deposits on the inner walls of circulating systems. The planar metal electrodes are directly exposed to the fluid with the planar configuration allowing maximum exposure to the electric field. The metal electrodes may be placed on a support so as to be parallel to the flow of the fluid or longitudinal therewith, using perforated, expanded, or screen mesh metal planar electrodes. The parallel plate electrode configuration may be utilized in both a pressure system by enclosing the parallel plates in a rectangular conduit or in an open circulating fluid system as for example a cooling tower basin.
