Abstract: A camera for a vision system of a vehicle includes a housing, an imager and a lens assembly. The imager is disposed in the housing and includes a pixelated imaging array having a plurality of photosensing elements. The imager captures image data. The lens assembly is disposed at the housing. The imager is disposed at an adjustment device in the housing. The adjustment device is operable, responsive to a control signal, to adjust a position of the imager relative to the housing and the lens assembly.

Abstract: A vehicular camera module includes a front housing, a printed circuit board housed by the front housing, an imager at the printed circuit board, a rear housing joined with the front housing, and a coaxial connecting element. With the rear housing joined with the front housing, an inward-extending portion of the coaxial connecting element extends inward of the rear housing towards the front housing and electrically connects with circuitry at the printed circuit board. With the rear housing joined with the front housing, a plurality of spring tabs make electrical connection between the circuitry at the printed circuit board and the rear housing. An outward-extending portion of the coaxial connecting element is configured for coaxial electrical connection to a vehicle connector.

Abstract: A vehicular camera module includes a front housing, a printed circuit board housed by the front housing, an imager at the printed circuit board, a rear housing joined with the front housing, and a coaxial connecting element. Abstract: A camera assembly for a vision system for a vehicle includes a camera module configured to be disposed at an exterior portion of the vehicle so as to have a field of view exterior of the vehicle. The camera module includes a housing and a lens barrel supporting a lens. A heating device is configured to attach at an exterior of the lens barrel. The heating device includes a heating element that at least partially circumscribes the lens barrel when the heating device is attached at the lens barrel. The heating device includes an electrical lead configured to electrically connect to an electrical connector of the vehicle when the camera module is disposed at the exterior portion of the vehicle.

Abstract: A method of forming a camera module for a vehicular vision system includes providing a circuit board and providing a lens holder for holding a lens assembly. A lens holder and circuit board construction is placed in a first mold and datumed in the first mold by a portion of the lens holder. An inner molded construction is formed by molding an inner molding over the circuit board and a portion of the lens holder. The inner molded construction is placed in a second mold and datumed in the second mold by the portion of the lens holder. An outer molded construction is formed by molding an outer molding over the inner molding and over another portion of the lens holder. The outer molded construction may include a connector portion that is configured to connect to a connector end of a vehicular wire harness.

Abstract: A vehicular camera module includes a circuit element and a lens mounting element disposed at the circuit element and optically aligned with an imager of the circuit element. An inner lower pressure polymer molding is formed at least partially over and around the circuit element and the lens mounting element so that the inner molding and the lens mounting element substantially encase the circuit element. A connector element is disposed at an aperture of the inner molding so as to be in electrical contact with the electrical connecting elements of the circuit element. An outer higher pressure injection molded shell is molded over and around the inner molding and part of the lens mounting element so as to encase the inner molding. The outer shell includes a connector portion that generally surrounds the connector element, with the connector element being accessible at the connector portion of the outer shell.

Abstract: A camera module for a vision system for a vehicle includes a housing, a lens holder and a rear cover. The housing houses a printed circuit board having an imager disposed thereat. The lens holder is attached at a front portion of the housing so that a lens assembly is optically aligned with the imager. The rear cover attaches at an opening at a rear portion of the housing and includes a connecting element for electrically connecting to circuitry at the printed circuit board when the rear cover is attached at the opening at the rear portion of the housing. An outer portion of the connecting element is disposed in a connector portion of the rear cover so as to be electrically connectable to electrically conductive elements of a vehicle connector when the camera module is disposed at the vehicle and the vehicle connector is connected to the connector portion.

Abstract: A camera module for a vision system of a vehicle includes a housing, a lens and at least one circuit board having circuitry disposed in the housing with an imaging array sensor disposed at the circuit board. An elongated thermally conductive element has a first portion in thermal conductive contact with the circuit board and a second portion extending from the first portion towards and through the housing such that the second portion protrudes through an aperture through the housing and protrudes from the housing exterior of the camera module. A heat sink is disposed exterior of the housing. The second portion of the thermally conductive element protrudes at least partially into the heat sink and is in thermally conductive contact with the heat sink. The thermally conductive element is configured to transfer heat from the circuit board to the heat sink to reduce heat within the camera module.
