Abstract: A battery pack including a housing defining an aperture, a first battery cell within the housing, a second battery cell within the housing, and a switch. The first battery cell is electrically connected to a first terminal. The second battery cell is electrically connected to a second terminal. The switch is configured to be in a first position and a second position. The switch includes a user-interface, that may extend through the aperture, and a plate, located within the housing. The plate includes a conductive portion and a non-conductive portion. The conductive portion is configured to electrically connect the first terminal to the second terminal when the switch is in the first position. The non-conductive portion is configured to galvanically isolate the first terminal from the second terminal when the switch is in the second position.

Abstract: A battery charger and a method of operating a battery charger. The charger may include a housing defining an air inlet and an air outlet; a charging circuit operable to output a charging current to charge a battery couplable to the battery charger; a tubular heat sink; and a fan operable to cause air flow from the air inlet to the air outlet and along the heat sink. The charger may include a first switch operable to electrically connect the charging circuit to a power source when the battery engages the charger; and a second switch operable to electrically connect the charging circuit to a battery terminal after the charger terminal is electrically connected to the battery terminal. The charging current or a fan speed may be adjusted based on at least one of the temperature of the charger or a temperature of the battery.

Abstract: A battery charger includes a housing having support structure for simultaneously supporting at least two batteries of different types for charging including a first battery of a first type and a second batter of a second type. The battery charger further includes charger electronics supported by the housing and operable to output charging current to charge the first battery and charging current to charge the second battery. A fan is operable to cause air flow through the housing. A fan speed of the fan is adjustable based on a temperature of the battery charger (i) while at least one of the at least two batteries is coupled to the battery charger for charging and (ii) while no batteries are coupled to the battery charger for charging.
