    Abstract: Polymers containing acid groups are modified by reaction of (a) polymers which comprise at least 5% by weight of a copolymerized monoethylenically unsaturated monomer containing acid groups, have molar masses of from 200 to 100,000 and are obtainable by free-radical polymerization of monoethylenically unsaturated acids in aqueous solution in the presence or absence of other monoethylenically unsaturated monomers and in the presence of at least 4% by weight, based on the monomers used in the polymerization, of a water-soluble sulfur compound in which the sulfur is in the oxidation state +4, with (b) polyalkylene glycols which are end-capped at one end, alkylpolyalkylene glycol amines or mixtures thereof, or mixtures of at least one of the two compounds specified with up to 30% by weight, based on the mixtures, of ammonia, amines, alcohols, hydroxycarboxylic acids or aminocarboxylic acids at up to 250° C.

    Abstract: Valve seat inserts of a four-cycle internal-combustion engine are cooled by the lubricating oil of the oil circulating system. An oil duct extending in the camshaft housing is bored in such a manner that the lubricating oil flows from the oil duct into a ring duct surrounding the valve seat inserts. By means of a projection which closes off the ring duct, a forced flow around the valve seat insert is achieved before the lubricating oil flows out of the ring duct through an opening located close to the lubricating oil inlet. From the ring duct the lubricating oil flows through a discharge pipe to the camshaft where it is sprayed on the cams.

    Abstract: Polymers of a poly(meth)acrylic acid main chain in which, based on the main chain, 0 to 30% by weight of the (meth)acrylic acid basic building blocks may be replaced by maleic acid (anhydride) basic building blocks, fumaric acid basic building blocks or mixtures thereof and 0 to 10% by weight of the (meth)acrylic acid basic building blocks may be replaced by other copolymerizable ethylenic basic building blocks,and C1-30-alkylpoly-C2-4-alkylene glycols, bonded to the main chain via ester groups, having an average molecular weight of from 250 to 10 000 as side chains,where, based on the polymer, 1 to 19% by weight of the main chain and 81 to 99% by weight of the side chains are present and this ratio and the average molecular weight of the side chains are chosen such that free carboxyl groups are present in the polymer,are used as controllable dispersants for detergents or cleaners or constituents thereof.
