Abstract: Radio frequency (RF) sensing by a sensing entity with an oscillator that introduces frequency errors is supported using dual direction bistatic sensing. The sensing entity transmits a sensing signal that is reflected by an object and received by a second sensing entity, which measures a first frequency offset that includes an oscillator error from the transmission of the sensing signal and a Doppler shift from the object. The sensing entity also receives and measures a second frequency offset of a sensing signal transmitted by the second sensing entity and reflected by the object, which includes a second frequency offset that includes an oscillator error from the reception of the sensing signal and a Doppler shift from the target object. The velocity of the object may be estimated based on a combination of the first and second frequency offsets, which cancels the oscillator error caused by the sensing entity.

Abstract: Techniques are provided for utilizing time reversed reference signals for radio frequency (RF) sensing operations. An example method for performing radio frequency sensing operations includes transmitting a radio frequency reference signal, receiving channel information associated with the radio frequency reference signal, generating a time reversed radio frequency sensing signal based at least in part on the channel information, and transmitting the time reversed radio frequency sensing signal.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, apparatuses, processes, and computer-readable media for wireless communications. For example, an example of a process may include receiving, at a network device (e.g., a user equipment (UE)) from a network entity via a number of sensing streams based on a maximum of Nt−J sensing streams, a waveform including communications resources and sensing resources. The waveform has a rank Nt and J is a number of layers scheduled for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications that is less than Nt. The process may further include processing at least the communications resources of the waveform.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a control message indicating a joint transmission configuration (e.g., fully coherent, partially coherent, or non-coherent) for a distributed system associated with a base station. The UE may receive reference signals from respective antenna panels of groups of distributed antenna panels. The UE may generate a channel state information (CSI) report based on the joint transmission configuration and the reference signals. In some examples, the UE may receive an indication of a reporting order for parameters in the CSI report, may separately or jointly encode channel state information reference signal resource indicators (CRIs) for the report, may modify a code-book (e.g., a precoder matrix) or cross-group co-phasing coefficients in the CSI report, or any combination thereof. The UE may transmit the CSI report to the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for activating antenna groups at a user equipment (UE) for communications with a base station. The UE may receive an indication of at least one active antenna group for communications with the base station, and the UE may map one or more layers of an uplink message to the at least one active antenna group. The UE may then transmit the one or more layers of the uplink message using the at least one active antenna group based on the mapping. In some cases, the UE may transmit a capability report to the base station indicating one or more antennas in each antenna group in a set of antenna groups at the UE, and the base station may activate the at least one active antenna group from the set of antenna groups.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some systems, a base station may transmit subband uplink precoding information to a user equipment (UE). The base station may transmit a first control message to the UE to indicate a set of downlink resources for a downlink message associated with the subband uplink precoding information for the UE. The base station may transmit a second control message to the UE to indicate a set of uplink resources for an uplink message. The base station may transmit the downlink message to the UE via the set of downlink resources indicated by the first control message. The downlink message, the second control message, or both may include the subband uplink precoding information for the UE. The UE may transmit an uplink message to the base station via the set of uplink resources using the subband uplink precoding information.
