Abstract: A light guide device used in a display apparatus includes a transparent light guide portion that guides light beams incident from one end side to a light-emitting portion. The light guide portion includes a plurality of partial reflection surfaces between a first surface and a second surface which are parallel to each other, the plurality of partial reflection surfaces being inclined at the same angle from a normal direction with respect to the second surface toward the one end side. In the plurality of partial reflection surfaces, an appropriate incident angle range of the partial reflection surface positioned on the one end side is set to a larger angle than that of the partial reflection surface positioned on another end side.

Abstract: A display apparatus includes an image generation system that emits image light beams as non-parallel light beams, and a light guide system on which the image light beams emitted from the image generation system are incident without passing through a projection lens system. The light guide system includes a transparent light-incident portion that includes a light-incident surface on which the image light beams are incident and which is a curved surface, and a plurality of reflection surfaces which convert the image light beams incident from the light-incident surface into parallel light beams and are curved surfaces, and a transparent light guide portion of which one end side in a first direction is connected to the light-incident portion. In the light guide portion, the image light beams incident from the light-incident portion are reflected between a first surface and a second surface, and are guided to a light-emitting portion.

Abstract: A light guide device that does not cause non-uniformity in image light and external light and does not cause ghosts, and a virtual image display apparatus provided with the light guide device. The light guide device includes a parallel light guide, an incident section, and an emission section. Here, the light guide device is set such that image light rays are reflected without reflecting from a boundary surface between the parallel light guide and the reflection unit and head for an observer. Thus, the image light rays only pass through half mirrors, which are positioned in positions where the image light rays are emitted from the reflection unit of the emission section or are positioned therearound. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent luminance non-uniformity or light reduction by reducing the number of times of the image light rays to be observed pass through the half mirrors.

Abstract: In a projection system, providing a stop that forms an opening that is symmetric with respect to a first flat plane including the projection system optical axis and a first axis that extends in parallel to the first direction and intersects the projection system optical axis but asymmetric with respect to a second flat surface including the projection system optical axis and a second axis that extends in parallel to the second direction and intersects the projection system optical axis allows appropriate light adjustment at the stop even when pencils of light from the points in a video device exit at different angles along a second direction, whereby high-quality video images can be provided with the size of an optical system further reduced and therefore the size of an overall virtual image display apparatus reduced.
