    Abstract: A liquid crystal display device is provided, which includes a thin film transistor including an oxide semiconductor layer, a first electrode layer, a second electrode layer having an opening, a light-transmitting chromatic-color resin layer between the thin film transistor and the second electrode layer, and a liquid crystal layer. One of the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer is a pixel electrode layer which is electrically connected to the thin film transistor, and the other of the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer is a common electrode layer. The light-transmitting chromatic-color resin layer is overlapped with the pixel electrode layer and the oxide semiconductor layer of the thin film transistor.

    Abstract: A display device with excellent display quality is provided. The display device includes a transistor over a first substrate, an inorganic insulating film in contact with the transistor, and an organic insulating film in contact with the inorganic insulating film. The transistor includes a gate electrode over the first substrate, an oxide semiconductor film overlapping with the gate electrode, a gate insulating film in contact with one surface of the oxide semiconductor film, and a pair of electrodes in contact with the oxide semiconductor film. The inorganic insulating film is in contact with the other surface of the oxide semiconductor film. The organic insulating film overlaps with the oxide semiconductor film with the inorganic insulating film provided therebetween and is separated. Note that the thickness of the organic insulating film is preferably greater than or equal to 500 nm and less than or equal to 10 μm.

    Abstract: Defective display by a liquid crystal display device is reduced. In a liquid crystal composition which contains a liquid crystal material exhibiting a blue phase and has a transmission spectrum with a single peak in a temperature range where the liquid crystal material exhibits a blue phase, it is found that the blue phase of the liquid crystal material can be stabilized in a wide temperature range by polymer stabilization treatment. Thus, the liquid crystal composition allows the polymer stabilization treatment to be achieved in a wider temperature range. This makes it possible to reduce defective orientation in a composite of polymer and liquid crystal formed by subjecting the liquid crystal composition to the treatment. As a result, it is possible to reduce defective display by a liquid crystal display device which includes the composite of polymer and liquid crystal.
