Abstract: Methods and systems to detect items left in merchandise carriers are disclosed. A disclosed example system includes: an input device configured to receive an indication that a merchandise carrier is to be empty from at least one of a user or a device communicatively coupled to the input device; an overhead imaging device configured to capture an image of the merchandise carrier at a checkout station in response to the indication; an image processor configured to detect based on the image an obscuration of a portion of the merchandise carrier by the presence of an item in the merchandise carrier, and generate an alert signal when the portion of the merchandise carrier is obscured; and an output device configured to receive the alert signal and provide a notification of the presence of the item in the merchandise carrier.

Abstract: A bioptic barcode reader has a housing having a lower housing portion with an upper surface and an upper housing portion extending above the lower housing portion. A generally horizontal window is positioned at the upper surface, a generally upright window is positioned in the upper housing portion, and an imaging assembly having a primary field-of-view and a set of optical components are positioned within the interior region. The housing has a width greater than or equal to 5 inches and less than or equal to 7 inches, the lower housing portion has a height greater than or equal to 3 inches, the upper housing portion has a height greater than or equal to 4 inches and less than or equal to 6 inches, and the upper surface has a length greater than or equal to 6 inches and less than or equal to 8 inches.

Abstract: A bioptic scanner optical arrangement with a single sensor split four ways is disclosed herein. An example bioptic scanner optical arrangement includes a housing, an imaging assembly having a primary FOV, a decode module, a generally horizontal window supported by the housing, a generally upright window supported by the housing, and a mirror arrangement positioned within the interior region. The mirror arrangement is configured to divide the primary FOV into a plurality of subfields, to redirect at least two of the plurality of subfields through the generally horizontal window, and to redirect at least another two of the plurality of subfields through the generally upright window. The bioptic barcode reader has no other imaging assembly communicatively coupled to the decode module and used to process images for decoding indicia.

An example barcode reader is configured to operate in a pre-determined repetitive pattern of capturing a first frame and capturing a second frame over a reading cycle having a fixed duration after a triggering event, wherein the first frame is captured over a first exposure period having a first duration, and the second frame is captured over a second exposure period having a second duration, and wherein the first frame is associated with a first brightness parameter, and the second frame is associated with a second brightness parameter.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus to indicate off-platter weigh conditions are disclosed herein. An example barcode reading and weighing apparatus includes: a weigh platter having a surface extending in a first transverse plane; a scale configured to measure a weight of an item on the surface; an off-platter detection assembly configured to detect whether a portion of the item is not resting on the weigh platter; a communication interface configured to communicate with a POS system; a processor in communication with the weigh platter, the off-platter detection assembly and the communication interface; and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the barcode reading and weighing apparatus to, when the portion of the item is not resting on the weigh platter, modify the weight to form a modified weight and send the modified weight to the POS system via the communication interface, wherein the weight is modified to indicate the portion of the item a3 was not resting on the weigh platter.

Abstract: A barcode reader has a housing, weigh platter, and off-platter detection assembly including first and second imaging assemblies in communication with a controller. The first imaging assembly has a first imager configured to capture an image of a first lateral edge of the weigh platter. The second imaging assembly has a second imager configured to capture an image of a second lateral edge of the weigh platter. The controller is configured to: identify and locate the first and second lateral edges; receive first and second images from the imagers; allow the weight of an object to be recorded if determined that a footprint of the object does not extend over the first or second lateral edges; and prevent the weight of the object from being recorded and/or providing an alert to a user if determined that the footprint of the object does extend over the first or second lateral edges.

Abstract: A convertible slot scanner assembly for capturing at least one object appearing in a field of view (FOV) is provided that includes an imaging assembly, a controller, an image decoder, a chassis, a first window, and a housing. The first window is configured to at least partially cover the opening of the chassis. The housing includes a housing cavity that is dimensioned to at least partially accommodate the chassis. The housing is positionable in a first, horizontal configuration and a second, vertical configuration. In the horizontal configuration, the first window is in a generally horizontal orientation. In the vertical configuration, the first window is in a generally upright orientation.

Abstract: A barcode reader has a housing, a weigh platter, and an off-platter detection assembly including an imaging assembly in communication with a controller. Abstract: A bioptic barcode reader is disclosed for selective use of illumination color to capture appropriate data. The bioptic barcode reader includes a housing and a primary imager positioned within the housing, configured to scan a target object during a first time period. The bioptic barcode reader further includes a primary illumination source positioned within the housing configured to emit primary illumination in a primary wavelength range during the first time period. The bioptic barcode reader further includes a secondary imager configured to capture one or more images of a target object during a second time period. The bioptic barcode reader further includes a secondary illumination source configured to emit secondary illumination in a secondary wavelength range during the second time period, wherein the second time period and first time period are interleaved and the secondary wavelength range is different from the primary wavelength range.
