Abstract:
A system controlling apparatus wherein an array of sensors are used for detecting information and for providing signals indicative of information concerning passing articles such as presence of an article at a sensor, number of articles passing, the direction of passing and the velocity of passing. Signal processing apparatus is comparing the signals with pre-determined parameter information as to the system and for providing control to the system in response to detecting equality and for providing overriding control to the system in response to detecting inequality. Each of the sensors is self-checking during the period an article is not present. The information detected by the sensors is converted to a simple binary high or low signal and such binary signals from all sensors are compared in a "look-up" table comparator arranged to recognize a particular pattern of highs and lows at its input and to provide an output to the system if it is in accordance with a pre-determined pattern corresponding to the pre-determined parameter information of the system.
Abstract:
A variable permeability magnetic object detection device including an electromagnetic sensing coil; a core disposed in the electromagnetic sensing coil having a first permeability when the core is magnetically saturated and a second different permeability when the core is magnetically unsaturated; a magnetic member proximate the electromagnetic sensing coil for providing a magnetic field in the core for operating the core in a magnetically saturated state without a magnetic object to be detected present in the area proximate the electromagnetic sensing coil, interacting with the magnetic field, and for operating the core in a magnetically unsaturated state with the magnetic object to be detected present in the area proximate the magnetic sensing coil, interacting with the field; and a detector responsive to said electromagnetic sensing coil to detect the presence of a magnetic object.
Abstract:
An interface logic circuit for supplying direction of passage data to a data utilization apparatus from a moving-object sensor which generates three recognition signals indicative of intrusion of an object into the left end, center, and right end, respectively, of a sensing space adjacent the sensor, comprising directional logic means for generating left-to-right and right-to-left object passage signals in response to the recognition signal sequences left-center-right and right-center-left, respectively, independently of overlap between the recognition signals or duration of the individual signals, and inhibit logic means for inhibiting generation of both object passage signals for all other recognition signal occurrence sequences.
