Abstract:
The present invention provides an aromatic liquid crystalline polyester film excellent in the adhesion property to a substrate. Such film is obtained by an aromatic liquid crystalline polyester film obtained by casting an aromatic liquid crystalline polyester solution composition containing a solvent containing a halogen-substituted phenol defined by the following general formula (I): (wherein A is a halogen atom or a trihalomethyl group; i is an integer of 1 to 5; and in the case i is 2 or higher, the respective A may be the same or different), an aromatic liquid crystalline polyester, and a non-liquid crystalline resin at ratio of 1 to 200 parts by weight of the non-liquid crystalline resin to 100 parts by weight of the aromatic liquid crystalline polyester on a substrate; and removing the solvent.)
Abstract:
A flame retardant thermoplastic composition having excellent physical properties comprises about 20 to about 90 wt. % of a polycarbonate resin; up to about 35 wt. % of an impact modifier; about 0.5 to about 30 wt. % of a polysiloxane-polycarbonate copolymer comprising about 8 to about 30 wt. % polydimethylsiloxane units or the equivalent molar amount of other diorganosiloxane units; and about 0.5 to about 20 wt. % of a phosphorus-containing flame retardant, each based on the total combined weight of the thermoplastic composition, exclusive of any filler. In one embodiment a sample of the thermoplastic composition having a thickness of 2.5 mm (±10 % ) achieves a UL94 5VA rating Thinner samples may also achieve this rating. The compositions are useful in forming flame retardant thin-walled articles.

Abstract:
A sludge powder and sealant are prepared from paint sludge. A sludge powder is generated from a paint sludge having a volatiles content of 0-50% by weight by adding a processing filler thereto. A sealant composition is prepared by thereafter or concurrently therewith adding sealant ingredients including polymer, plasticizer, curative, and other sealant ingredients such as an adhesion promoter and sealant filler materials to the sludge powder. Alternatively, a sealant composition may be prepared by adding a paint sludge having a volatiles content of 0-50% by weight to the sealant ingredients, which may include a processing filler.
Abstract:
A method for making a filler from automotive paint sludge is provided. Paint sludge containing water, solvent and uncured polymer resin is treated by removing a first portion of the water by mechanically drying the sludge to produce a concentrated sludge, and a second portion of the water is removed by treating the sludge with a chemical drying agent to produce a dried powder. Alternatively, the second portion of the water may be removed by agitating the concentrated sludge under a vacuum to produce a dehydrated putty. The resulting dried powder or putty can then be used as a filler in sealants and other products.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a reactive flame-proof composition for vinyl polymers, consisting at least of a first monomer and a second monomer that can be polymerised using the first monomer, wherein the first monomer has at least one aliphatic double bond and can be polymerised using the second monomer to form a reactive flame-proof polymer having an aliphatic double bond. The disclosure also relates to: a reactive flame-proof polymer produced by polymerisation of the reactive flame-proof composition; a use of the flame-proof composition and the flame-proof polymer; a flame-resistant vinyl polymer comprising the reactive flame-proof polymer; and methods for the production thereof. The subjects according to the disclosure can in particular advantageously reduce dripping of vinyl polymers during fires and can thus improve the flame-proof nature of such polymers.
