Abstract: This invention discloses a transparent standalone resin or masterbatch concentrate composition and manufacturing method of transforming commercial transparent grade base thermoplastics into anti-biofouling resins through extrusion or any similar hot melt mixing processes. The re-compound solids enable a number of product reforming processes, including but not limited to thermoforming, profile extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, blow filming, film casting, and spinning into articles of different shapes and geometries or overmolding on plastic substrates that can resist surface adsorption of microbes, mammalian cells, proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, steroids and other cellular constituents after solidification. The articles formed thereof additionally exhibit mechanical reinforcement and no leaching while retain the optical clarity of the base thermoplastics in the same product form as quantified in terms of the light transmittance and haze.

Abstract: This invention relates to a polyimide-polybenzoxazole precursor solution, a polyimide-polybenzoxazole film, and a method of manufacturing the same, wherein a film manufactured using the polyimide-polybenzoxazole precursor solution of the invention is formed by copolymerizing a unit structure of diamine and dianhydride and a unit structure of diaminophenol and dicarbonyl chloride in an organic solvent, and is colorless and transparent, like conventional polyimide films, and can exhibit improved heat resistance and low birefringence.

Abstract: Methods for producing transparent polycarbonate articles include melting a composition at a temperature of 300 to 390° C., extruding the melted composition to form a strand, cooling the strand of extruded composition, cutting the cooled strand into pellets, drying the pellets at a temperature of 50 to 140° C. and injecting molding or extruding the pellets at a temperature of 300 to 380° C. to form an article. The composition can comprise a moisture content of 0.1 to 5 wt. % and a crystalline additive having a melting point of at least 280° C., a heat of fusion greater than or equal to 1.0 Joule/gram (J/g). The composition can be cooled to at least 20° C. below the glass transition temperature of the polycarbonate.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods of improving adhesion of a non-di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to an acrylic-based polymer or an ABS-based polymer. Such methods may comprise blending the acrylic-based polymer or ABS-based polymer with an impact modifier so that a rubber content in the acrylic-based polymer or ABS-based polymer is greater than 12% (w/w). Also provided are components of a device (e.g., a medical device) made by the disclosed methods.
