Abstract: An openable roof window includes: a window panel configured to be slidable along a guide rail to selectively open and close an opening in a roof and tiltable relative to a base frame; a slider having a pin and driven by a drive device to slide along the guide rail; an engagement structure that selectively engages the slider with the window panel such that they are unmovable relative to each other in a direction along the guide rail; and the engagement structure includes a stay fixedly secured to the window panel and having a cam groove formed therein, the cam groove engaging the pin of the slider and having a shape defined such that, when the engagement structure does not engage the slider with the window panel, the window panel is caused to tilt as the slider moves relative to the stay as a result of sliding of the slider along the guide rail.

Abstract: An operable fenestration operating system for a structure including a window or skylight having a frame, an operable sash and presenting a resistance force opposing opening and closing of the sash. A motorized operator is coupled with the frame and the sash to selectively open and close the sash. The invention includes an operator control unit communicatively connected to the motorized operator. The operator control unit includes a processor, a sensor for sensing the magnitude of the resistance force, a pulse width modulation circuit for supplying electrical power to the motorized operator. The processor varies the torque output of the motorized operator using the pulse width modulation circuit in response to the sensed parameter.

Abstract: A mounting arrangement for glass doors includes an upper mounting having a mounting body with a clamping device for the glass leaf and a displaceable bearing pin for engaging in a counterbearing at a transom and a lower mounting with a mounting body with a clamping device for the glass leaf, and with a receiving recess for a floor door closer or a floor bearing. The two mounting bodies are arranged parallel to the vertical axis (H) of the glass leaf, and each clamping device is provided with longitudinally extending grooves for receiving fastening screws which project through screw holes in the clamping device and bore holes in the glass leaf. A clamping insert is provided for inserting into the grooves and has a recess for a cover panel. The mounting body and the counterbearing can be covered by means of covers, wherein the cover is provided with elongated holes which extend under the clamping insert and cover panel. Lift-out protection is provided in the upper mounting for the all-glass leaf in the closed position.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an improved chain assembly and a method for making the same. In general, the method of making a chain assembly in accordance with the present invention, comprises forming a plurality of links having a preselected shape and placement of apertures therein. A plurality of wire blanks are formed having an outer diameter to permit insertion into the apertures of the links. Such link is retained in a fixed position and a wire blank is inserted into each aperture of the link. On one end of each wire blank, a head is formed having a diameter larger than the aperture into which the wire blank is inserted. A mating link is placed into engagement with each link containing wire blanks with the end of each blank inserted in one aperture of the mating link in a manner to form a chain assembly. On the other end of each wire blank, a head is formed to complete interlocking of the links and blanks in forming the chain assembly.

Abstract: A roof access hatch has an upstanding curb defining the well or hatch opening and a cover pivoted to the curb to open and close the hatch. The cover is counterbalanced and includes an improved latching mechanism which presents no substantial obstruction to the well opening. The latching mechanism is self locking in response to closure of the cover and may be opened from the inside or the outside of the hatchway.
