Abstract:
Facsimile communication is correctly performed even when an echo is generated in a communication line having a delay, by handling an echo signal in such a manner that when an echo of a CFR signal (according to the ITU-T recommendation V.21) transmitted from a receiving communication apparatus is received by the receiving communication apparatus, the echo signal is not recognized as a carrier of a picture signal and training data is not adjusted on the basis of the received echo signal, thereby making it possible to receive a correct short training/picture signal which arrives thereafter. A facsimile communication procedure includes storing training information when long training information is received, detecting success in receiving short training information, detecting high-speed data, setting the stored training information into the modem, and changing the receiving operation in response to detection of short training information and high speed data.
Abstract:
To prevent the reduction of an S/N ratio of an image signal in the ITU-T Recommendation V.34 half-duplex communication, signal level designation information included in a line probing signal is disregarded or "no signal level attenuation" information is informed to a partner station when the half-duplex communication is conducted.
Abstract:
In a facsimile communication method, when a home facsimile machine makes the transition to simplified protocol phase B because of sensing polarity inversion, CED reception from an associated machine, etc., it stores 9600 bps as the initial value of control signal communication speed and sends a communication speed notification signal of the frequency corresponding to the stored communication speed to the associated machine, then sends an NSS thereto at the stored communication speed. When receiving the communication speed notification signal, the associated machine previously senses execution of the simplified protocol and the communication speed of the subsequently received NSS from the notification signal and receives the NSS at the sensed communication speed, then sends a communication speed notification signal of the frequency corresponding to the sensed communication speed and subsequently sends an NSF at the communication speed. When receiving the communication speed notification signal, the home machine also previously senses the NSF communication speed from the notification signal and receives the NSF at the sensed communication speed, then makes the transition to phase C.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus connected on an ISDN side in a communication network in which the ISDN is connected to a telephone network includes network identifying means for identifying whether an incoming data sending party is an ISDN terminal or a telephone network terminal, CNG signal detecting means for detecting a CNG signal received via a B channel, and changeover means for changing over between automatic reception and manual reception. In a case where the CNG signal is detected, a response is made in a facsimile mode. In a case where the CNG signal is not detected, a response is made in a facsimile mode if automatic reception prevails and in a telephone mode if manual reception prevails. This arrangement eliminates communication failure due to a difference in mode between a calling side and a called side regardless of the network terminal from which a call is received.
Abstract:
A test signal is received for testing the transmission rate, the number of errors in the test signal in a predetermined time period is detected, and the number of errors is compared with a predetermined number to determine the proper transmission rate for data communication.
Abstract:
Provided is a feature extraction device including a sub region setting unit (433) which sets a plurality of sub regions with respect to a pixel of interest, and a binary pattern generation unit (434) which generates a local binary pattern indicating pixel value comparison results relative to each sub region with respect to each pixel of interest. The sub region setting unit (433) sets (436) a region constituted by a plurality of pixels including a pixel separated from the pixel of interest as a sub region, and the binary pattern generation unit (434) calculates (437) a representative value for each sub region and generates (439) a local binary pattern indicating whether or not the difference (438) between the representative value and the value of the pixel of interest is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold value.

Abstract:
Provided is a method for a network adaptive error control for selecting an appropriate error control method according to the statue of a network, in transmitting a fax data over the Internet by using a T.38 protocol. The provided method includes receiving a T.38 fax data to recognize errors, transmitting a predetermined statistical information on the T.38 fax data to the media gateway controllers, selecting an error control method by determining the status of a network over which the T.38 fax data is transmitted, based on the statistical information, transmitting the error control method to the gateway that transmits the T.38 fax data, and renewing an existing error control method by receiving the error control method and transmitting the T.38 fax data according to the renewed error control method. According to the provided method, an appropriate error control method can be used according to the status of a network in real time, in transmitting a fax data over the Internet. Therefore, the performance of an error control improves, thereby securing a stable communication and improving a transmission speed. As a result, a communication speed increases so that transmission efficiency improves.
