Abstract:
A metal vapor discharge lamp includes a cathode comprising a reservoir of liquid cesium. Metallic cesium which is eroded from the cathode surface by the action of the discharge is returned to the reservoir by the combined effects of gravity, evaporation, condensation, and diffusion to provide a highly stable, long-lived lamp. The intense infrared pulse output of cesium vapor discharge lamps of the present invention is well suited for triggering light-activated semiconductor switches through dielectric pipe networks and for pumping neodymium glass or neodymium-YAG lasers.
Abstract:
An enclosed vessel containing one or more anodes, a main cathode, one or more auxiliary cathodes, and means for maintaining a low pressure in the tube comprises a liquid-metal arc switching device. The main cathode is fed with a metal which is liquid at convenient temperatures, so that limited quantities of the metal are present and available on the cathode for arcing. The interior of the vessel is maintained at a low background pressure so that, during nonconduction, vacuum space insulation is provided between the anodes and the cathodes. Arc initiation is accomplished by any convenient initiator, and the arc runs upon the small amount of liquid metal fed at an appropriate rate to the main cathode. For arc extinction, at least one auxiliary cathode is positioned within the envelope.
Abstract:
A liquid electrode tip has a housing with a top, a bottom and at least one peripheral side wall. The housing has a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet. The liquid outlet is located at the top of the housing. A solution reservoir is positioned within the housing. The solution reservoir has a solution inlet in fluid communication with the liquid inlet and a solution outlet in fluid communication with the liquid outlet. A conductor is positioned within the housing with at least a portion of the conductor being submerged by a liquid in the solution reservoir. A staging area at the top of the housing is provided into which the liquid from the solution reservoir flows from the liquid outlet.
Abstract:
A backlight module includes a back plate, replaceable light source sets, external electrode lamps, and a fastening device. Each replaceable light source set is disposed on the back plate and has an electrically conductive strip. The external electrode lamps are disposed on one of the replaceable light source sets and each has an external electrode electrically connected with the electrically conductive strip. The fastening device is used for fastening the replaceable light source sets and comprises an electrically conductive element electrically connected with the electrically conductive strips.
